Nic Rossmüller : 2008-01-08 00:03:00
Canon MD216 : Canon launches the new MD216 MiniDV camcorder that introduces Canon’s new, powerful Advanced Zoom. Advanced Zoom combines the quality of a genuine Canon video lens with the power of the DIGIC DV processor, resulting in zoom ranges that extend as high as 45x magnification. The Canon MD216 offers true widescreen recording, easy and intuitive operation, and the advantage of Canon’s Quick Start feature. “The new MD200 series camcorders bring affordable, high quality home moviemaking to even more consumers,” said Mogens Jensen, Head of Canon Consumer Imaging Europe. “Easy to use and small enough to take anywhere, this new range of MiniDV models is the perfect way for anyone to catch the moviemaking bug.”

JVC GZ-MG730 : JVC introduces a higher-performance camcorder, the JVC MG730. Also new is Laser Touch, a touch-sensitive scroll bar that simplifies operation and a new design that’s some 20 percent smaller than last year’s entry-level model. The JVC GZ-MG730 offers higher-resolution digital stills by virtue of a 7 Megapixel CCD, making it unnecessary for people to carry both a camcorder and a digital still camera. This model is the first in the world to have an embedded 1.3” hard disk drive (30GB), which allowed JVC to integrate a large 1/2.5” CCD and its accompanying large optical lens section, without getting bulky - thereby providing the quality benefits of a large lens while maintaining a small body and offering large capacity.
