 Meeting point for amateur photographers at photokina : fotocommunity’s slogan for photokina 2008 is “experiencing photography”. The stand of Germany’s largest Internet community for photography will be located in Hall 9, where it will serve as a central nexus and meeting point for dedicated amateur photographers. On an activity area measuring 700 square meters, fotocommunity will provide photokina visitors with a highly varied program that offers something for almost every photography enthusiast. The offerings include daily workshops and photo shoots, a free-of-charge Internet café in the lounge area, a big photo exhibition, daily sweepstakes with high-quality prizes, and the fotocommunity WorldConvention.

With its comfortable seating, the lounge area at the fotocommunity stand will invite visitors to relax and talk about photography. Vis-à-vis the lounge will be the “fotocommunity World”, a free-of-charge Internet café with numerous surf stations. Every half hour, experts will hold presentations and workshops on numerous topics at the “fotocommunity Stage”. The spectrum of these topics is very broad, ranging from photomontages, fashion and portraits to nighttime photography, retouching, color management, photography law and nude photography. As a result, visitors will have many opportunities for increasing their photographic knowledge.
fotocommunity shows best pictures of the Photographers of the Year 2008
Over the past few months, fotocommunity has searched among its members for the best photographers of 2008 in eight main categories: motif, special, people, nudes, nature, digital art, youth, and world. A panel of high-ranking experts selected the winner for each category. All eight of the winners will be presented with the fotocommunity Award at a festive ceremony during photokina - and each of the eight winners will have their own exhibition. The winners’ photos will be displayed in the northern section of the Boulevard at the Cologne exhibition center.
fotocommunity WorldConvention at photokina
On Saturday, September 27, fotocommunity will be staging the fotocommunity WorldConvention at photokina. The event will be held in Congress Center North and feature first-rate photography workshops with renowned instructors such as Robin Preston, DocBaumann, and the Playboy photographer David Mecey. The workshops will be followed by a party with live music, where several thousand fotocommunity members and guests are expected.
