My Book hard drive storage : Western Digital announced that it is shipping its newest line of external hard drive storage called My Book. Designed to be as easy to use as common household appliances for mainstream consumers, the first models of the My Book family are available now in capacities from 160 to 500 GB. My Book’s unique, iconic book-shaped enclosure stands vertically, leaving a tiny footprint and sitting naturally on desktops and bookshelves. It features vents around the book’s page ends, keeping the hard drive inside cool for long-term reliability. WD conducted in-depth consumer research as part of the My Book design process, contributing to the simple, easy-to-use features of the product family.

WD Passport portable drive : Western Digital Corp. announced that its newly redesigned WD Passport Portable Drives have grown in storage capacity and have shrunk in physical size, and are now shipping. Featuring a stylish, ultra-portable design and sleek, piano-black finish, WD Passport is available in capacities of 60, 80, 120 and 160 GB, fits easily in your pocket or purse and weighs less than 5 ounces. WD Passport Portable Drives and WD Passport carrying cases are available at select retail stores, online retailers and also may be purchased via the company’s online store. Estimated pricing is $199 USD for the WD Passport Portable Drive 160 GB capacity and $179 USD for the 120 GB capacity.

WD hard drive earns highest Windows Vista test score : High-performance hard drives from Western Digital Corp. earned the highest score possible when tested with the Windows Experience Index utility, a new feature in Windows Vista , WD announced. The results indicate that the new Windows Vista operating system will run optimally when installed on WD Caviar SE16 500 GB and WD Raptor 150 GB SATA hard drives. The Windows Experience Index measures performance capabilities of PCs and their components and calculates a score telling users how well the operating system will run using those components. WD also announced that all of WD’s latest-generation hard drives now are certified to run Windows Vista.
