Variable focus liquid camera lens

Variable focus liquid lens : Varioptic and IVA Corporation announce the launch of the first 2 Megapixel CMOS digital camera with a variable focus liquid lens - IVIN 2M USB 2.0. The new IVIN 2M USB 2.0 camera features a CMOS imager with selectable display resolution from 320 X 240 @ 30 frames/second up to 1600 X 1200 @ 15 frames/second incorporating a progressive scan sensor with an electronic rolling shutter. At 39mm by 37mm, it is a very low power, high performance CMOS image acquisition device. It integrates a Varioptic variable focus Liquid Lens allowing “close up” to infinity focus control done completely electronically with no moving parts. The IVIN 2M USB 2.0 can be ordered through RMA Electronics.

Variable focus liquid lenses : Varioptic, and Creative Sensor Inc., a world leader in imaging systems for the scanner and MFP industry, announced the mass production of variable focus liquid lenses. Varioptic signed a production deal with Creative Sensor (Wuxi, China) in August 2006. Creative Sensor set up the production line for liquid lenses with the support of Varioptic. The manufacturing capacity is now at 100,000 liquid lenses per month and will be increased to 1 million units per month by the end of 2007. Production quantities in Wuxi include Varioptic’s new 7.75-mm lenses, Arctic 416, aimed at camera phones, as well as the previously introduced devices, Arctic 320, for use in webcams, barcode readers and medical equipment.
