Toshiba 4GB microSDHC card : Toshiba Corporation, a leading innovator in memory card solutions, today expanded its line of small-format, high-speed, high-capacity memory cards with the announcement of the launch of a 4-gigabyte (GB) microSDHC card. The addition of the new card extends Toshiba’s comprehensive range of microSDHC cards, the preferred memory card for mobile phone applications, from 256MB up to 4GB. The new cards will be available worldwide from July. Toshiba’s 4GB microSDHC card meets SD memory card standard Ver. 2.00, the SD card standard for high density SD products with a capacity of over 2GB. The card is designed for use in dedicated microSDHC slots, but can also be used in standard SDHC card slots in an adapter.

NAND flash with three dimensional cell array : Toshiba Corporation announced a new three dimensional memory cell array structure that enhances cell density and data capacity without relying on advances in process technology, and with minimal increase in the chip die size. In the new structure, pillars of stacked memory elements pass vertically through multi-stacked layers of electrode material and utilize shared peripheral circuits. The innovative design is a potential candidate technology for meeting future demand for higher density NAND flash memory. Typically, advances in memory density reflect advances in process technology. Toshiba's new approach is based on innovations in the stacking process.

Toshiba 56nm MLC NAND flash memory : Toshiba reinforcing its leadership in the development of powerful, high density NAND flash memory, announced with Toshiba America Electronic Components, its subsidiary in the Americas, the introduction of 16 Gb and 8Gb NAND flash memory, fabricated with cutting-edge 56-nanometer (nm) process technology co-developed with SanDisk Corporation of Milpitas, Calif. The 16Gb is the highest density single-chip NAND flash memory yet achieved. Advancing from limited production of engineering samples at the end of 2006, Toshiba is now increasing shipments of commercial samples of new 8Gb single-chip, multi-level cell NAND flash memories, the current mainstream density, with availability from today.
