An influential brand in CD/DVD media, optical drives and USB flash drives, Memorex is a portfolio brand of Imation Corp. Under the agreement, Migo Software grants to Memorex a worldwide, nonexclusive license to use, distribute and market Migo Portable Vault software with the newly redesigned Memorex TravelDrive USB flash drive, and Migo Recover Lost Data software with select Secure Digital (SD) flash media cards distributed under the Memorex TravelCard brand name.

Royal Photographic Society print exhibition winners : The Royal Photographic Society is pleased to announce the Award winners for its prestigious International Print Exhibition which, this year, celebrates its 150th Anniversary. The Gold Award was won by Richard Merritt FRPS for his extraordinary photograph of a Scalloped Hammerhead Shark taken in the waters of Costa Rica’s Cocos Island National Park. Also this year, an ‘Under 25years section’ has been introduced and the Gold Medal has been awarded to Chris Charnock ARPS, aged 19, who also wins an E400 digital SLR camera, kindly donated by Olympus for his print ‘Exploited’. The Exhibition will open at Hoopers Gallery in London and will then tour the UK until April 2008.

BenQ to sell digital camera business : BenQ Corporation and Ability Enterprise Co., Ltd., a Taiwan-based manufacturer of digital cameras, announced that they have entered into an agreement for the acquisition of BenQ’s digital camera-related R&D and manufacturing facilities. The acquisition aims to strengthen ties between the two companies on future collaborations, while complementing both parties’ product offerings. Ability has agreed to acquire BenQ’s digital camera-related assets, including manufacturing equipment and materials at the book value determined on June 30, 2007. Approximately 70 employees, mostly comprised of R&D personnel within the digital camera business unit, will be joining Ability starting on June 1, 2007.

Apple Worldwide Developers Conference : Apple announced that Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO, will kick off its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) with a keynote address beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 11, 2007 at San Francisco’s Moscone West. At WWDC, Apple plans to show developers a feature complete version of Mac OS X Leopard and give them a beta copy to take home for final testing. Leopard is scheduled to ship in October. The five-day event, scheduled to run from June 11 to June 15, will deliver more than 150 sessions and labs aimed at getting the most out of Leopard. The five-day conference costs $1,595 (US) per attendee, with a $300 (US) Early Registration Discount that has been extended through May 11.

Microsoft and SanDisk replacing U3 Smart Technology : Microsoft and SanDisk Corporation announced they have signed an agreement to deliver a next-generation software and hardware solution to place application programs and personal customization on USB flash drives and flash memory cards, expanding on and replacing SanDisk’s existing U3 Smart Technology. Under the terms of the agreement, Microsoft will develop a new software experience and SanDisk will develop new hardware capabilities, including the addition of TrustedFlash security technology. Eastman Kodak Company unveiled ink yield test results and cost-per-page analyses, confirming Kodak’s claim that Kodak EasyShare All-in-One Printers’ premium, low-cost ink saves customers up to 50 percent on everything they print, compared to similar consumer inkjet printers. The company contracted with third-party testing lab QualityLogic Inc. to compare Kodak’s AIO printer ink yields to those of 12 other industry-leading printers. QualityLogic’s testing of black-and-white and color/text pages meets the recently released ISO standards for measuring ink cartridge yields.
