New York Film Festival sponsored by Technicolor : Technicolor is sponsoring the 45th annual New York Film Festival. Technicolor provided key services for many of the premieres. In addition, Technicolor led a team of postproduction and visual effects companies on the “definitive” restoration of director Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner - receiving its North American premiere on Saturday, Sept. 29. Young fashion photographer of the year competition : Clothes Show Live is continuing its support for young fashion and design talent with the return of the second ever Young Fashion Photographer of the Year Competition in association with Nikon. The award is the first of its kind in the UK and aims to celebrate up and coming British talent within the world of fashion photography. The brief requires entrants to revisit this era and use their imagination and photographic skills to create and shoot an image which demonstrates what Cool Britannia means to them in 2007. Entrants must also complete an application form explaining what influenced their design and include with their photograph any preliminary sketches or designs.

GE digital cameras at Micro Center : General Imaging, the worldwide exclusive licensee for GE digital cameras, has added Micro Center to the list of retailers carrying its products. Micro Center, which began stocking the GE cameras in late August, reports that GE digital cameras have been very successful. “Micro Center stores do a lot of volume and are an important outlet for us,” said Hiroshi “Hugh” Komiya, chairman and CEO of General Imaging. “We’re excited about adding this retailer to our team.” Kevin Jones, vice president of merchandising for Micro Center, said, “The new GE digital cameras made an immediate impact with our customers. Their feature sets and price points are excellent.”

Samsung Independent Film Program : Samsung Electronics America announced its corporate commitment to independent films and its support of independent filmmakers. Based on the campaign theme True Vision Should Lose Nothing in Translation, Samsung has created a three-tiered independent film program that brings filmmakers’ true vision to life for consumers by giving them a “behind the scenes” look into select films. In an effort to further Samsung’s commitment to independent film, Samsung will launch a competition for up and coming filmmakers whose films do not yet have distribution. Samsung along with Landmark Theatres’ Truly Indie program will provide the selected film with marketing support and distribution in five top markets.


Mitsubishi mobile showroom

Mitsubishi mobile showroom : A number of Mitsubishi retailers across the country will host the local debut of Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America’s rolling showroom as it takes to the road this month. The first appearance for the 53-foot big rig trailer is September 21-23 in El Paso, Texas. The rig nearly doubles in width to 24 feet to create a 1000-square-foot showroom filled with the latest high-definition DLP and flat panel televisions. Thousands of people are expected to tour the mobile showroom as it travels through Texas, California, Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida and Arizona. On display will be more than a dozen HDTVs, including Mitsubishi’s SuperSlim LCD flat panel and large screen HDTVs.
