Sony PSP now slimmer and lighter : Sony Computer Entertainment unveiled an enhanced design for PSP PlayStation Portable system that has a more streamlined form factor and a video-out port which will become available in stores from September in Japan, North America and Europe. While succeeding the basic functions and design philosophy of the current PSP including a 4.3 inch wide LCD screen, overwhelmingly large for a handheld device, new PSP is 33 percent lighter and 19 percent slimmer than the original version, making the all-in-one handheld entertainment system even easier to carry around at approx.189g in weight (weight of current model is approx.280g) and approx.18.6mm in thickness (thickness of current model is approx.23.0 mm).

Combined with the Wipro-NewLogic Bluetooth 2.0+EDR radio IP, it offers customers a range of system configurations and can be integrated into any application, host or baseband chips, in the mobile, automotive and consumer markets. Toshiba files lawsuit in Germany : Toshiba Corporation announced that the Company filed a lawsuit in Germany against a German disc replicator of DVD discs. The suit was brought to the Dusseldorf Regional Court against EDD Bizz GmbH and its managing director, Mr. Denny Holwerda, as a means to halt infringement of some of Toshiba's DVD patents. Toshiba seeks injunctive relief and declaration that EDD is liable for damages resulting from its infringement of Toshiba's DVD patents. Toshiba licenses patents essential for meeting DVD format specifications. EDD has not entered into license agreements with Toshiba or the DVD6C Licensing Group, and has engaged in the manufacture and sales of DVD video discs in Germany without permission.

Pleasance Theatre for the Edinburgh Fringe : Epson announced its involvement in an innovative exhibition planned by the Pleasance Theatre for the Edinburgh Fringe. The Pleasance is the largest of the fringe venues and its courtyard is the place to meet. Verbatim acquires SmartDisk hard disk drive company

Verbatim acquires SmartDisk external hard disk drive : Verbatim and its parent company Mitsubishi Kagaku Media (MKM), announced the purchase of substantially all of the assets of SmartDisk's external hard drive (HD) and digital imaging business. The acquisition, which includes physical assets, patents, trademarks, technology, engineering and marketing expertise, was effective on June 30, 2007. The purchase price has not been disclosed. The Verbatim brand delivers data storage solutions with the latest technologies, the highest quality, and features that add value for the consumer. The company’s role as an innovator is especially apparent in the magnetic and optical storage markets where it has been known as a pioneer for more than 30 years.
