Sony 300x CompactFlash cards

Sony 300x CompactFlash cards : Sony Europe’s Recording Media & Energy (RME) division have announced the launch of three high speed (300x) CompactFlash cards to meet the capacity and speed demands of professional D-SLR photographers and ambitious amateur photographers. With UDMA (ultra direct memory access) support, the Sony 300x CompactFlash cards achieve data transfer rates of 45MB/s during write operation. The new Sony CompactFlash 300x card, which complements the existing line-up of 66x and 133x CompactFlas cards, will be available with capacities of 2GB, 4GB and 8GB. They will be branded as part of Sony’s α (pronounced alpha) D-SLR camera system. The new Sony CompactFlash 300x cards will be available from October 2007.

Sony Memory Stick Pro-HG Duo flash memory card : Sony Europe’s Recording Media & Energy (RME) division announced the launch of its Sony Memory Stick Pro-HG product line-up earlier this year and started the first shipments at the beginning of August. The Sony Memory Stick Pro-HG is an extended format of the Sony Memory Stick Pro format, offering high performances to meet the stringent demands of end users using digital entertainment equipments. Sony Memory Stick Pro-HG media come in Duo size and will be available in 1GB, 2GB and 4GB capacities. Offering 30MB/s Read/Write speed (240Mbps), it allows large amount of data to be quickly transferred, as well as the real-time recording of high-resolution video and still images.

Sony CompactFlash product line-up : Following its announcement to enter the CompactFlash market, Sony Europe’s Recording Media & Energy (RME) division revealed the details of the initial product line-up. Targeted at the more price conscious consumer, there will be a range of three 66x transfer speed cards with capacities of 1GB, 2GB and 4GB. In addition, two higher-end, value added 133x transfer speed cards with 2GB and 4GB capacity, which are supported by Sony’s image recovery service, are targeted at the more ambitious amateur and semi-professional photographer. The new Sony CompactFlash cards line-up will be branded as part of Sony’s α (pronounced alpha) 100 D-SLR camera system.

The pre-loaded Virtual Expander data compression software allows users to store up to 3 times more data and files than the native capacity.

The first product line-up, to be announced shortly, is designed to handle the demanding speed and performance requirements of digital SLR cameras and is available with up to 4GB of storage capacity for the most demanding user. The first Sony CompactFlash memory cards will be available later this Spring. The initial line-up will include CompactFlash Type I cards with 66x and 133x transfer speeds and capacities between 1GB (Gigabyte) and 4GB. The Sony CompactFlash memory card products will be branded as part of Sony’s α100 D-SLR camera system.
