SanDisk and Qimonda to develop Mobile Storage

Mark Peters : 2007-04-26 12:08:10
SanDisk and Qimonda to develop Mobile Storage Solutions : SanDisk and Qimonda entered into an agreement to jointly develop and manufacture MCPs utilizing SanDisk’s NAND flash and controllers and Qimonda’s low power mobile DRAM. The collaboration targets the fast growing need for high capacity, integrated memory solutions of data-intensive mobile applications. This agreement will be executed through a jointly owned company based in Portugal, subject to closing conditions, including regulatory approvals. The MCPs will be sold by Qimonda and SanDisk through their existing sales channels to mobile handset manufacturers. According to iSuppli, MCPs continue to be the preferred package type for placing embedded memory into mobile handsets.

SanDisk iNAND

Mark Peters : 2007-02-12 17:15:00
SanDisk iNAND : SanDisk introduced a new, JEDEC (Joint Electron Device Engineering Council) standard version of the iNAND embedded flash drive (EFD). This new version of iNAND, soon to be available in capacities of up to 8 gigabytes, was unveiled at the 3GSM World Congress, where SanDisk is showcasing its storage technologies and solutions. iNAND is a reliable, high-capacity and high-performance NAND flash storage device that is now JEDEC JC-64.1 package and ball-out compatible. This new JEDEC compatibility, which allows iNAND to more readily connect to applications using this common standard, should help to reduce integration efforts for handset vendors and other mobile device manufacturers.
