SanDisk Solid State Drives

SanDisk Solid State Drives : SanDisk Corporation announced that it will offer its line of solid-state drives (SSD) for resale to the system integrator community through select US-based distribution partners. The move comes after a successful OEM launch last spring of SanDisk’s 32-gigabyte (GB)1, 2.5-inch Serial ATA (SATA) interface model, which is compatible with most mainstream notebook designs.The SanDisk 2.5-inch SSD fits in the same internal slot as 2.5-inch hard drives. Now, the distribution channel that resells integrated systems with solid-state drives, or stand-alone units, to system builders will be able to offer the durability, performance and low power consumption of solid-state flash memory to their customers.

SanDisk 64 Gigabyte Solid State Drives : Reaching for the “sweet spot” of memory storage for laptop computers, SanDisk Corporation expanded its line of solid state drive (SSD) products with the introduction of a 64-gigabyte (GB) SSD aimed at both enterprise users and early adopter consumers such as gamers. SanDisk 1.8-inch UATA 5000 and 2.5-inch SATA 5000 SSD products, which already are available in a 32GB capacity, are compatible as drop-in replacements for hard disk drives in most mainstream notebook computers. The announcement was made at Computex Taipei 2007, where SanDisk is showcasing its comprehensive line of flash memory storage products for use in industrial and system-level embedded applications.

Solid state drive gets Windows Vista certification : SanDisk Corporation announced that the Microsoft Windows Hardware Qualification Lab (WHQL) has certified the new SanDisk 1.8-inch UATA solid state drive (SSD), which is being used as a substitute for hard drives in selected laptop computers. The product also earned a high score on the Windows Experience Index, indicating that it is suited to a variety of Microsoft Windows Vista applications. The announcement was made at the 2007 Windows Hardware Engineering Conference (WinHEC 2007) at the Los Angeles Convention Center, where SanDisk is showcasing its comprehensive line of storage products for use in computing systems. On display at the exhibition are the SanDisk SSD products.


SanDisk support Windows ReadyBoost

SanDisk support Windows ReadyBoost : SanDisk announced it will offer broad support for the Windows ReadyBoost feature of Microsoft’s new Windows Vista operating system. Select USB flash drives from SanDisk with capacities of 1GB or more that ship after mid-February will be compatible with Windows ReadyBoost, as will select flash memory cards available later in the year. The announcement was made during a press conference at the Consumer Electronics Show. Windows ReadyBoost, a performance enhancement feature new with Windows Vista, a new Operating System for business and consumers, creates a “cache” of frequently needed data in otherwise unused space on a USB flash drive or flash memory card.
