Samsung 8GB moviNAND

Ralf Jurrien : 2007-04-03 19:03:00
Samsung 8GB moviNAND : Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., the world leader in advanced memory technology, announced that it has begun shipping samples of an eight gigabyte (GB) memory chip to major mobile electronics manufacturers - the highest density embedded flash memory developed to date. Samsung’s high-density moviNAND memory solution consists of four 50-nanometer, 16Gigabit NAND flash memories, a high-speed MultiMediaCard (MMC) controller and associated firmware. It can store up to 2,000 songs or enough map data to implement global positioning system (GPS) and points of interest for the entire western world. In addition, it can also be used with removable media cards to permit virtually unlimited memory expansion.

Samsung CMOS image sensor

Samsung CMOS image sensor : Samsung Electronics announced an 8.4 megapixel (Mp) CMOS image sensor (CIS) with a 1.4 um pixel design at Samsung’s fourth annual Mobile Solution Forum. The new CIS chip provides a high signal to noise ratio (SNR), a key measure of overall image quality. Samsung achieved the high-resolution level by implementing advanced light sensing features and minimized noise levels. Notably, an extended photo diode technology was implemented to achieve higher light sensitivity and saturation levels, resulting in an enhanced fill factor. Furthermore, it provides the same image quality as the charge-coupled device (CCD) image sensors currently used in most digital cameras and camcorders.
