The Samsung 22-inch widescreen LCD monitor offers end users a simplified experience designed to drive workplace productivity, increase security and reduce costs. The widescreen monitor, which features a high-gloss shiny black bezel and a stylish square-based stand, also includes a set of touch-sensitive buttons, enhancing overall ease-of-use and adding an ultra-modern feel. Audio and video conferencing using the SyncMaster 225UW are easy and intuitive.


Samsung 16Gb NAND Flash Memory

Samsung 16Gb NAND Flash Memory : Samsung Electronics, a leader in advanced semiconductor technology, announced today that it has become the first to begin mass producing 16 gigabit (Gb) NAND flash, the highest capacity memory chip now available. The company said it will fabricate the devices in 51 nanometers (nm), the finest process technology to be used in memory mass production to date. “In rolling out the densest NAND flash in the world, we are throwing open the gates to a much wider playing field for flash-driven consumer electronics,” said Jim Elliott, director, flash marketing, Samsung Semiconductor. With support technology in place, demand for 16Gb NAND flash memory is expected to grow rapidly.

Samsung and Nokia mobile TV interoperability : Samsung and Nokia announced they will work to achieve interoperability among their DVB-H (Digital Video Broadcast - Handheld) enabled mobile devices and the open standards based Nokia network services system. The handset manufacturers will work together to support solutions based on the open OMA BCAST standard available for operator partners interested in deploying multi-vendor mobile TV services and trials in 2007 and onward. "Within DVB-H technology, Samsung has already commercialized handsets based on the CBMS OSF standard, and will develop the OMA BCAST standard based mobile TV handset. says Kwang Suk Hyun, Senior Vice President of Alliance Team of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.

Samsung mobile digital TV broadcasting : Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. announced at NAB 2006 (followed by a live demonstration with handheld devices at the International Consumer Electronics Show (ICES) in January 2007) a new innovative technology that enables portable and mobile TV digital broadcasting in North America at very low cost, using broadcasters’ existing facilities and frequency spectrum. At NAB 2007, Samsung will not only demonstrate an A-VSB mode with twice the efficiency (using half the broadcasting bandwidth) compared to Samsung’s previous demonstration in January, but will also demonstrate the power of A-VSB’s Single Frequency Network (SFN) tool for the first time.

Samsung SpinPoint 160GB hard drive : Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., a worldwide leader in digital consumer electronics and information technology, announced its new 160GB hard drive using 2.5” disks. Capacity of the single-disk platform ranges between 60 and 160GB, while a dual-disk model is under development that will provide up to 250GB of storage space. Samsung has already shipped test samples of the SpinPoint M5 Series to OEM vendors and plans to begin mass production in mid-April. The SpinPoint M5 series utilizes perpendicular magnetic recording (PMR) technology, and the disk drive design has been optimized to allow ultra-precision adjustment of the head parking ramp position for high-density recording.

Symmetry Electronics has been authorized to promote and sell Samsung’s NOR Flash memory throughout North and South America. In addition, electronics designers can obtain production quotes or purchase Samsung NOR flash online at Symmetry’s e-commerce website. “We are confident that Symmetry’s established industry presence and its skill in offering viable component solutions will go a long way in helping us to provide a large, reliable and highly competitive supply of NOR products in all of our markets,” said John Cerrato, vice president, memory sales, Samsung Semiconductor, Inc.


Samsung SpinPoint silent hard drive

Samsung SpinPoint silent hard drive : Samsung Electronics announced its new SpinPoint S166 Series of ultra silent and high-speed hard disk drives. The 3.5” SpinPoint S166 hard drives are currently shipping in 80GB and 160GB capacities and will be available worldwide in April. The new SpinPoint S Series of hard drives offer upgraded versions of Samsung’s proprietary SilentSeek and NoiseGuard technologies to accelerate operational speed while reducing noise. Benchmarking tests on sound power have shown that competing hard drives (80GB and 160GB models) generate on average 2.8 bel (1 bel = 10 decibels) in idle mode and 3.2 bel in seek mode, while Samsung’s S166 series generate just 2.4 bel and 2.75 bel respectively.

Samsung high-resolution LCD mobile display : Samsung Electronics announced at the fourth annual Samsung Mobile Solution Forum in Taipei that it has developed a 2.1" LCD panel for high-end mobile devices that will provide qVGA resolution and comes equipped with sensors designed to adjust brightness to optimize ambient lighting. Screen brightness is automatically adjusted to enhance readability under any lighting condition. Designed for use in high-end mobile phones, PDAs and portable media players, the new panel also has a temperature compensation sensor embedded in its LCD driver IC that maintains a steady operational mode regardless of any temperature change in the surrounding environment.
