Samsung mobile TV technology : Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., a leader in advanced semiconductor technology, announced the industry’s first 65 nanometer (nm) multi-standard channel decoder (S3C4F31) and multi-band radio frequency (RF) tuner (S5M8602) chipset which supports multi digital mobile TV standards including DVB-H/T, DAB-IP, ISDB-T, and terrestrial DMB for the multiple standards in the different countries around the world. Samsung’s new multi-standard, multi-band mobile TV chipset integrates a broad range of segment standards. As countries worldwide introduce their mobile TV service standards, this chipset allows end users to choose which broadcasting services they want to use without changing their mobile application.

Samsung MCP for mobile phones : Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., the world leader in advanced semiconductor technology, announced that it has developed a 4GB MCP (multi-chip package) for mobile phones that for the first time forgoes the need for an external memory card slot and also eliminates having to develop interface software for all types of NAND memory. Samsung’s new moviMCP is a multi-chip package carrying an embedded (moviNAND) memory solution, which provides a simple-to-design memory package that satisfies the high-speed data transmission needs of mobile phones, while fully supporting the communication features within the handset. Samsung and Nokia mobile TV interoperability : Samsung and Nokia announced they will work to achieve interoperability among their DVB-H (Digital Video Broadcast - Handheld) enabled mobile devices and the open standards based Nokia network services system. The handset manufacturers will work together to support solutions based on the open OMA BCAST standard available for operator partners interested in deploying multi-vendor mobile TV services and trials in 2007 and onward. "Within DVB-H technology, Samsung has already commercialized handsets based on the CBMS OSF standard, and will develop the OMA BCAST standard based mobile TV handset. says Kwang Suk Hyun, Senior Vice President of Alliance Team of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.

Samsung high-resolution LCD mobile display : Samsung Electronics announced at the fourth annual Samsung Mobile Solution Forum in Taipei that it has developed a 2.1" LCD panel for high-end mobile devices that will provide qVGA resolution and comes equipped with sensors designed to adjust brightness to optimize ambient lighting. Screen brightness is automatically adjusted to enhance readability under any lighting condition. Designed for use in high-end mobile phones, PDAs and portable media players, the new panel also has a temperature compensation sensor embedded in its LCD driver IC that maintains a steady operational mode regardless of any temperature change in the surrounding environment.
