Olympus E-3 Hands-On Review in Istanbul Turkey

Dennis Hissink : 2007-11-28 14:04:00
Olympus E-3 Hands-On Review : Not even 3 weeks after returning from my trip to Kenya, where I attended the EOS Safari on the invitation of Canon, I found the next invitation on my digital doormat. This time it concerned an invitation from Olympus to Istanbul, Turkey, for the introduction of the long expected successor of the E1 to the press. Journalists from all over the world were flown into Turkey in groups to join the ten day event. Besides a number of Dutch colleagues, the Belgian and English press were also present during my stay. Upon our arrival at Istanbul's Atatürk airport a bus took us to the famous Topkapi palace. A guide gave us a tour through this beautiful cultural heritage and we were able to visit a few sections. Olympus E-510 Review

Dennis Hissink : 2007-10-12 17:42:00
Olympus E-510 Review : Olympus is making waves with the digital SLR cameras. The models are quickly being improved and renewed. We still await the successor of the E-1 (Olympus E-3), but the Olympus E-510 D-SLR gives us a taste of what is to come. The Olympus E-510 is the successor of the E-500, which was released more than a year and a half ago. The changes made to the E-400 in the E-410 were minimal, but the Olympus E-510 digital SLR is truly different from its predecessor. An important change is the image sensor. Olympus uses a Panasonic sensor for the E-510 instead of a Kodak sensor. The CCD has been replaced with the LiveMOS. As the name suggests, the Olympus E-510 also has Live View, just like other Olympus models have.

Olympus E-410 Test with photo samples

Dennis Hissink : 2007-04-22 14:28:00
Olympus E-410 Test with photo samples : Last year, Olympus gave the starting shot for a new FourThirds SLR concept and the first real digital compact SLR - the Olympus E-400 DSLR - was born. Unfortunately it was only the European continent that was so lucky to get acquainted with this model, as all the other continents were left out. This year Olympus made up for it all with the introduction of two new digital SLR cameras just before the PMA 2007 in Las Vegas kicked off, among them the new Olympus E-410. I had already been introduced to this camera during my visit to the PMA and thanks to a fast cooperation with Olympus we are able to carry out a full test on the Olympus E410 SLR very shortly after its introduction.

Olympus E-410 Zoo animal test photos

Dennis Hissink : 2007-04-05 00:08:00
Olympus E-410 Zoo animal test photos : We have just received a sample of one of the most interesting new digital SLR cameras that will become available on the market soon; the Olympus E-410. The Olympus E410 kit sample comes with a Zuiko Digital ED 14-42mm 1:3.5-5.6 lens that provides full 3x zoom performance and a Zuiko Digital ED 40-150mm 1:4.0-5.6 (35mm equivalent focal length: 80-300mm) lens. The Olympus Zuiko lens is a small and light telephoto zoom lens and comes as a part of the Olympus E-400 Double Zoom Kit. The compact and lightweight Olympus E-410 with Live View features a newly-developed engine, a 2.5-inch LCD and a dual-slot memory compartment for xD Picture Card and CompactFlash. And of course; 10 Megapixels.

Olympus SP-550 UZ image test samples

Dennis Hissink : 2007-03-10 19:44:01
Olympus SP-550 UZ image test samples : After a 3 hours sleep I was picked up by Olympus Europe to join a trip to Spring Mountain Ranch, about 30 miles from Las Vegas where the PMA 2007 show is held. Arriving before sunrise I was able to use the new Olympus SP550 UZ Megazoom digital camera in the field. This beast of a compact camera offers an amazing 18x optical zoom (28-504mm - 35mm equivalent) and a blazing speed of 15 fps. These features are just a small part of the total package this camera offers. How about P/S/A/M settings, optical image stabilizer, ISO up to 5000, 2.5-inch LCD, Super Macro mode which lets you shoot from as close as 1cm, and much more. I have to say; I am impressed with the versatility of the Olympus SP-550 UZ!

Olympus E-400 digital SLR review

Ilse Jurriën : 2007-01-22 15:01:00
Olympus E-400 digital SLR review : Last August we saw the introduction of the Olympus E-400, the world's smallest and lightest digital reflex camera. Almost immediately after the introduction, we received the news that the Olympus E-400 would not be available world-wide and that, for example, there was no reason for the American market to get exited about this new compact DSLR FourThirds model yet. The latest news is that the American introduction has been planned for later, under another name (EVOLT E-400). The Olympus E-400 has recently become available and with it, Olympus has managed to build up an interesting range of dSLR cameras in a relatively short period of time.

Scuba dive review of Olympus PT-E02 underwater case

Ilse Jurriën : 2007-01-22 14:59:00
Scuba diving with the Olympus PT-E02 underwater case : LetsGoDigital traveled to Maldives, officially named as Republic of Maldives, to test the Olympus E-330 DSLR camera with the PT-E02 underwater case. The Maldives form a group of atolls in the Indian Ocean about seven hundred kilometers from south-west of Sri Lanka. The twenty-six atolls exist out of 1,192 islets, but only 200 are inhabited by people. For a lot of people the Maldives are one of the most exotic places. For us, it was the perfect occasion for trying out the Olympus E-330 DSLR, the first SLR camera with Live View via a 2.5-inch LCD screen. In combination with the Olympus PT-E02 underwater case; water tight up to a depth of 60 meters and made of a long-lasting, high-quality polycarbonate.
