A trial-version of the software will be bundled with all new Olympus E-System cameras, and the full version is available for download via the internet. Olympus FR3200 wafer inspection : Olympus Integrated Technologies America (Olympus-ITA), leader in quality inspection and defect review systems, will demonstrate its FR3200 200 and 300mm Wafer Inspection and Automated Defect Review System at SEMICON West 2007. In addition to the broad range of visible light imaging methods, the system integrates a new Broadband DUV technology for better material contrast and characterization on advanced films and materials. The new multiple band DUV optics provide imaging in single or combined UV and DUV bands. With the advent of many new materials in front-end processing, this flexible multiple band DUV observation method will be very powerful in characterization of advanced material defects.

Olympus underwater housings and accessories : Olympus gears-up for summer with new underwater housings and accessories for its digital cameras - from point-and-shoot to D-SLR (digital single lens reflex). For millions, the peak travel season of June through August means fun in the ocean, lake or pool. Weekend sun worshipers to serious divers can easily capture their adventures beneath the surface (down to depths of 40 meters / approximately 133 feet) using the new Olympus housings. The new Olympus underwater housings and accessories will be available at retailers in June 2007. The new housings - both compact and D-SLRs - are for use in depths down to 40 meters (approximately 133 feet).

BioScapes Imaging Competition judges announced : Olympus America announced the judges for its fourth annual BioScapes International Digital Imaging Competition. The judges include some of the most widely recognized international researchers in the biomedical field, reflecting the competition's goal of honoring the most striking and significant life science images, image sequences and movies in the world each year. The judges for the competition include Dr. Kenneth Fish, Dr. Douglas Murphy, Janelia Farms, Dr. Jason Swedlow and Dr. Clare M. Waterman-Storer. The Olympus BioScapes International Digital Imaging Competition honors the world’s finest life science images, both still and moving, as captured through light microscopes.


National photography competition

National photography competition : Some of the most prestigious individuals in the photography world have been selected to judge a national competition celebrating the life of the late Patrick Lichfield. The photography competition is being run by Lord Lichfield's home Shugborough, in Staffordshire. The judges, announced this week include world renowned landscape photographer, Charlie Waite, managing director of Olympus UK Ltd, Graeme Chapman, and Patrick Lichfield's photographic assistant, Iain Lewis. Charlie Waite has led a distinguished career winning international acclaim for his breath-taking landscape photographs. Over the last 25 years he has held numerous high profile exhibitions across the world.

Refugee photo camp in Uganda supported by Olympus : Olympus, the digital camera manufacturer, is sponsoring an exhibition of photographs by young refugees of war and famine in Uganda. Through the Eyes of Children – Life as a Refugee in Uganda will run for three weeks in London’s South Bank at The gallery at Oxo from 14th June to 1st July 2007. In November 2006 Olympus supported the International Medical Corps United Kingdom and National Geographic, in a series of workshops set up in a refugee settlement in south-western Uganda. The IMC UK are a global humanitarian organisation who actively dedicates their time to saving and rebuilding lives through healthcare, training and community development.
