Kodak CCD image sensor technology

Ralf Jurrien : 2007-11-09 22:45:00
Kodak CCD image sensor technology : Kodak has introduced an advancement in Charge Coupled Device - CCD image sensor technology that significantly improves performance for applied imaging applications. Kodak's new Interline Transfer CCD technology platform will be the basis for a full portfolio of image sensor products targeted to markets such as industrial and scientific imaging, starting with the newly announced Kodak KAI-01050 Image Sensor. The eighth generation of Interline Transfer CCD technology developed by Kodak, this new platform reduces pixel size by almost 50%, doubles the maximum frame rate available from the image sensor, and provides a significant increase in image quality compared to the previous technology generation.

Kodak KAC-05011 CMOS image sensor

Kodak KAC-05011 CMOS image sensor : The Kodak EasyShare C513 is an entry-level camera designed to produce high-quality images no matter how experienced the photographer may be. The camera is based on the new Kodak KAC-05011 CMOS image sensor, which delivers the image quality and overall performance customers have come to expect from Kodak’s EasyShare line of digital cameras while taking advantage of the power, integration and cost benefits associated with CMOS technology. “The C513 provides consumers true value through easy-to-use and intuitive technology at an affordable price, thanks to the efficiencies that Kodak’s CMOS technology has brought to camera design,” said John Blake, General Manager, Kodak Digital Capture and Devices.

Kodak image sensor delivers less noise

Mark Peters : 2007-06-25 13:09:00
Kodak image sensor delivers less noise : Eastman Kodak Company introduced a groundbreaking advancement in image sensor technology that will help make dark, blurry digital photos a thing of the past. Kodak’s new image sensor technology provides a significant increase in sensitivity to light when compared to current image sensor designs. With this new groundbreaking technology, users will realize a 2x to 4x increase in sensitivity (from one to two photographic stops), which will improve performance when taking pictures under low light and reduce motion blur when imaging moving subjects. The first Kodak image sensor to use this technology is expected to be available for sampling in the first quarter of 2008.

Kodak’s sensor technology provides a 2x to 4x increase in sensitivity to light compared to current sensor designs. Image sensors act as the “eye” of a digital camera by converting light into electric charge to begin the capture process. This breakthrough advances an existing Kodak technology that has become the standard in digital imaging. Today, the design of almost all color image sensors is based on the “Bayer Pattern,” an arrangement of red, green, and blue pixels that was first developed by Kodak scientist Dr. Bryce Bayer in 1976.
