GE digital cameras at Micro Center : General Imaging, the worldwide exclusive licensee for GE digital cameras, has added Micro Center to the list of retailers carrying its products. Micro Center, which began stocking the GE cameras in late August, reports that GE digital cameras have been very successful. “Micro Center stores do a lot of volume and are an important outlet for us,” said Hiroshi “Hugh” Komiya, chairman and CEO of General Imaging. “We’re excited about adding this retailer to our team.” Kevin Jones, vice president of merchandising for Micro Center, said, “The new GE digital cameras made an immediate impact with our customers. Their feature sets and price points are excellent.”

GE digital cameras in Latin America : General Imaging conducted a mid-day news conference at the ultra-chic Hotel Unique in São Paulo. General Imaging Chairman & CEO Hiroshi “Hugh” Komiya and Rene Buhay, Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing for the Americas, met with more than 40 journalists and emphasized the importance of Latin America to the new camera brand’s long-term vision. Representatives of Jaacx Distributors, the Miami-based master distributor for GE digital cameras in Latin America, also took part in the news conference. “Latin America remains an exceptionally fast-growing market for digital cameras, and Brazil and other Latin American countries are enjoying greater buying power than ever before,” Komiya said.

GE E1040 digital camera offered by HSN : General Imaging, the worldwide exclusive licensee for GE cameras, announced that HSN will offer the E1040 in black, silver, and an eye-catching, HSN-exclusive hot metallic pink. Besides the 10-megapixel resolution, the GE E1040 boasts 4x zoom and a 3-inch LCD screen. As with all GE cameras, it also offers such advanced features as face detection, red-eye removal, panoramic stitching, and image stabilization. The GE E1040 also provides ISO 3200 sensitivity. These features are all embedded in the camera, meaning no additional software is needed. All GE cameras offer movie mode, continuous-shot mode, and a variety of special scene modes - all at prices far less than many of their competitors.

Cameras should be available to resellers by next week. “Synnex Canada is well established and enjoys a very loyal customer base of retailers and resellers in Canada. General Imaging cameras distributed by Synnex : General Imaging announced that Synnex Corporation, a global IT supply chain services company, will begin distributing the new line throughout the US. General Imaging has begun shipping the stylish new digital camera line to Synnex, to be distributed through Synnex’s NEXCE Division. Cameras should be available to resellers by next week. “We look forward to a long relationship with Synnex, a well-established company with a very loyal customer base of retailers and resellers,” said Hiroshi “Hugh” Komiya, Chairman and CEO of General Imaging. “I am confident the NEXCE Division, with its strong focus in consumer electronics, will do a good job of driving our products to market.”

Sears Kmart to sell General Imaging digital cameras : General Imaging announced that Sears and Kmart have signed a contract to become the first retailers to carry the stylish new digital cameras emblazoned with the famous GE monogram. The retail chains, both owned by Sears Holdings, will begin carrying GE cameras in their US stores around Memorial Day. “We are thrilled to sign on with General Imaging and become the first retailers to carry the GE digital cameras,” said Jonathan Magasanik, Vice President and General Merchandise Manager for Sears Holdings. “We believe the GE name carries tremendous weight with consumers, and we expect these cameras will be a big hit with our customers.”
