GE digital camera at Pamida stores : General Imaging, the worldwide licensee for GE digital cameras, has announced the addition of Pamida stores to the list of retailers carrying its products. Pamida is now selling two models of the GE digital camera line at all of its stores: the GE A730 (MSRP $99.99) and the E1030 ($199.95). “We’re thrilled to have GE digital cameras available in Pamida,” said Hiroshi “Hugh” Komiya, chairman and CEO of General Imaging. “Pamida is another very important member of our retail team.” Pamida is a regional retailer focused on bringing value and convenience close to home in small communities. Headquartered in Omaha, Neb., the company operates 214 stores throughout 16 states, primarily in the Midwest.

Micro Center, which began stocking the GE cameras in late August, reports that GE digital cameras have been very successful. “Micro Center stores do a lot of volume and are an important outlet for us,” said Hiroshi “Hugh” Komiya, chairman and CEO of General Imaging. “We’re excited about adding this retailer to our team.” Kevin Jones, vice president of merchandising for Micro Center, said, “The new GE digital cameras made an immediate impact with our customers. Their feature sets and price points are excellent.”

GE H855 digital camera to fight breast cancer : General Imaging, the worldwide exclusive licensee for GE digital cameras, has announced a partnership with multichannel retailer HSN that will let consumers join in their effort to fight for breast cancer. HSN will offer a limited-edition GE camera during October, which is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. A permanent pink ribbon adorns the highly polished aluminum face of the camera to signify General Imaging’s commitment to the fight against breast cancer. The GE H855 will be offered exclusively by HSN during an Oct. 20 broadcast - and also online. For every unit sold, HSN will donate a portion of proceeds to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

General Imaging Chairman & CEO Hiroshi “Hugh” Komiya and Rene Buhay, Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing for the Americas, met with more than 40 journalists and emphasized the importance of Latin America to the new camera brand’s long-term vision. Representatives of Jaacx Distributors, the Miami-based master distributor for GE digital cameras in Latin America, also took part in the news conference. “Latin America remains an exceptionally fast-growing market for digital cameras, and Brazil and other Latin American countries are enjoying greater buying power than ever before,” Komiya said.

Buhay’s new position was effective Sept. 1. He had been serving as vice president of sales for North America. “Rene has done a wonderful job for us in our first year of existence, and it gives me great pleasure to reward his vast skills and accomplishments with this promotion,” said Hiroshi “Hugh” Komiya, chairman and CEO of General Imaging. “He has helped take this company from a total unknown to a major force in the marketplace in a very short time. He is the channel architect who made this all happen.”

Besides the 10-megapixel resolution, the GE E1040 boasts 4x zoom and a 3-inch LCD screen. As with all GE cameras, it also offers such advanced features as face detection, red-eye removal, panoramic stitching, and image stabilization. The GE E1040 also provides ISO 3200 sensitivity. These features are all embedded in the camera, meaning no additional software is needed. GE Cameras distributed by Jaacx in Latin America : General Imaging, the worldwide exclusive licensee for GE-branded digital cameras, announced that Jaacx Distributors will distribute the company’s new digital camera line in Latin America. Miami-based Jaacx will make the GE digital cameras available to other distributors, photographic retailers, consumer electronics dealers and other resellers throughout the region. Initial shipments of the stylish new digital camera line - the first digital shooters to carry the General Electric brand - are now reaching Jaacx to further deepen the company’s reach to Latin American resellers. North American retailers began stocking the GE digital cameras in late May 2007.
