Camera survives fall from Blarney Castle in Ireland

Mark Peters : 2007-06-25 11:11:11
Camera survives fall from Blarney Castle in Ireland : The Fujifilm FinePix S602 digital compact camera has been hailed a superhero by owner Roy Sands of Herne Bay, Kent. Roy was on holiday with his wife when his beloved Fujifilm camera took a 100ft plunge from the historic Blarney Castle in Ireland. “My wife and I were almost at the top of the castle and we were keen to snap the beautiful views from the summit”, says Roy. “We were about six steps from the top when I rested my camera on the windowsill to get my breath and use my inhaler. Unbeknown to me at the time, the sill was tilted and my Fujifilm Finepix S602 camera slid down the 2ft wide sill straight out the slit window, plummeting 100ft to the grass below.

Survey warns the nation of long term memory loss

Ralf Jurrien : 2007-05-29 22:49:00
Survey warns the nation of long term memory loss : In research independently commissioned by the company, 63% of digital camera owners risk losing a lifetime of memories as they opt for saving images on a computer or printing images using an inkjet printer at the expense of obtaining true quality prints. For the 39% of those surveyed who rely on storing images on a PC there comes a strong warning from computer experts who pinpoint the potential risk of hardware failure and data loss. Computer consultant Adam Olliffe, MCSE says: "The hard drive is a mechanical device prone to failure. Technology over recent years has concentrated on squeezing more and more data onto the same disk surface area."
