Fujifilm FinePix S5800 : Fujifilm introduces the Fujifilm FinePix S5800, an 8.0 Megapixel version of FinePix S5700. The Fujifilm S5800 is also fitted with a 10x long-zoom FUJINON lens and in addition, the Fujifilm FinePix S5800 is equipped with variety of shooting functions such as ISO 1600 sensitivity, Picture Stabilization (Anti-blur), “Intelligent-Flash”, powerful movie functions, and Super Macro mode. The Fujifilm S5800 offers a bright, 2.5”, 230K LCD, with a refresh rate of 60 frames per second. Furthermore, the camera is fitted with a Wide View filter, enabling consumers to view the LCD at oblique angles, which is great for awkward shots or group playback. Despite the long zoom, the Fujifilm FinePix S5800 is remarkably compact.

Fujifilm USA management change : Fujifilm announced that Taizo Mori has stepped down as President and CEO of Fujifilm USA Inc. He will continue in his position as President of Fujifilm Holdings America Corporation in order to focus full time on the overall management of Fujifilm group companies in America. Mr. Mori retains his role as a Corporate Vice President of Fujifilm Corporation based in Tokyo, Japan. Hiro Sakai, who will continue to report to Mr. Mori, has been named President and CEO of Fujifilm U.S.A., Inc. Mr. Sakai will remain General Manager of the Imaging Division, which includes overseeing the operations of the Fujicolor Processing Division, and will also head up the operations of the Fujifilm Electronic Imaging.

Fujifilm FinePix F47fd : Exclusive to some regions like the UK market, the Fujifilm FinePix F47fd digital compact camera has almost the same specifications (9MP vs 8.3MP) as the FinePix F40d that was announced in January 2007. Fujifilm was the first to introduce digital cameras with hardware-based Face Detection technology when the FinePix S6500fd was launched in July 2006. Because the technology was built-in to the camera’s processor, it was the world’s fastest, capturing faces in as little as 0.05 seconds. Face Detection has been popular among consumers and is now also available in the Fujifilm FinePix F31fd and FinePix Z5fd. Fujifilm adds the Fujifilm F47fd to its digital compact camera assortment.

Great American Scrapbook Convention : Fujifilm announced its sponsorship of the Great American Scrapbook Convention for the second consecutive year. As the show's platinum sponsor, Fujifilm will participate at all three dates and locations: June 6-8, Arlington, Texas; June 23-25, Chantilly, Virginia; and July 27-28, Grand Rapids, Michigan. Attracting an estimated 20,000 scrapbooking enthusiasts, it's one of the largest scrapbooking events in the United States. Estimates say that one in four U.S. households have someone that creates some form of a scrapbook. Workshops on Digital Photography, led by photo-fun specialist, Adele Hendricks. At Ms. Hendricks' workshops, participants will learn the do's and don'ts of good photography.
