Photographs by Jacques Henri : Gallery Vassie is proud to present, an exhibition in conjunction with Foam of the work of the historic and acclaimed photographer Jacques Henri Lartigue (1894-1986). Born in Courbevoie, France in 1894, Lartigue was a privileged child and using his father’s camera took his first photographs at the age of six. This was the beginning of what would become a lifelong diary, creating an enduring record of 20th century French life. His charming and delightful work continued to capture with beauty and panache, the intimacies of family life and high society, with its ‘beautiful’; and that of aviation and motoring both in their infancy. The exhibition can be visited from 19th May until 16th June 2007.

University of Bedfordshire students photo exhibition : A photography exhibition examining dreams, nightmares and living in a new country is running at the hat Factory in Luton until the end of July. Two 26-year-old Media Production graduates from the University of Bedfordshire have joined forces to display their work which formed part of their final year projects. Natasia Cuffy from Luton has delved into the subconscious and captured the fleeting memories of dreams and nightmares that emerge from the depths of the mind when sleeping and linger throughout the day. The photography exhibition in the Basement Lounge of the Bute Street gallery, will run until 31 July from 8am to 10pm, Monday to Saturday.

Digital art performances at SIGGRAPH 2007 : Digital art performances that expands awareness of people and nature, illuminates the role digital media play in shaping, extending, and reflecting world views and cosmologies will be presented as part of the SIGGRAPH 2007 Art Gallery: Global Eyes. The art performances and site-specific installations will be presented from 4-6 August 2007 at the California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology (Calit) and the Center for Research in Computing and the Arts (CRCA) at the University of California, San Diego. The digital art performances are open to the public, but pre-registration is required at the San Diego Convention Center. Free shuttle buses will be available.

Disney Magical Blu-ray tour : The Walt Disney Studios announced the launch of Disney’s Magical Blu-ray Tour, which will visit 18 malls nationwide beginning August 17. The announcement was made by Bob Chapek, president of Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment. Disney’s Magical Blu-ray Tour, sponsored by Panasonic, is an interactive exhibit designed to educate consumers about the new high-definition home entertainment technology and will feature interactive kiosks, viewing stations and a special presentation theater where consumers can experience first-hand the amazing capabilities and benefits of Blu-ray Disc technology.

The 2008 International CES is the world’s largest tradeshow for consumer. Bill Gates, Chairman, Microsoft Corp., will deliver a pre-show keynote address on Sunday, January 6, 2008, at 6:30 p.m. Toshihiro Sakamoto, president, Panasonic AVC Networks Company, will kick off the 2008 International CES at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, January 7 with an opening keynote, immediately following a State of the Industry Address by Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of CEA. HP Brings a Street Photography Gallery to Arles : HP announced the winner of its online Street Photography competition at the prestigious Rencontres d’Arles Photography festival, where the winning entrants will have their photographs exhibited. The winner German Eduardo Hernández Saavedra from El Salvador was chosen from more than 10,500 entries and wins a paid-for trip to the festival, including an exclusive dinner and portfolio review with Stuart Franklin with an opportunity to gain valuable insights into Franklin’s work.
