Scrapbook contest : Tamron announced the 2007 photo contest for scrapbookers called “An Emotional Appeal.” This marks the second year that Tamron is conducting a photo contest aimed at the scrapbook enthusiast. “We received more than 1,300 images last year in response to our contest announcement,” stated Stacie Errera, Chief Marketing Officer for Tamron. “Andre Costantini, a professional freelance photographer living in New York City, our contest judge, had to work incredibly hard to choose a winner and just 20 favorites from the gamut of emotional images that ran from tears of joy and frustration, to grins of all sorts and much more. This was one of the most fun contests that Tamron has run and we absolutely wanted to do it again.”

Online photo contest from Hewlett Packard : Embarking on medieval adventures isn’t just for ogres anymore as Hewlett Packard is kicking off a series of online photo contests that merge themes from the movie “Shrek the Third” with contestants’ family memories. Beginning today, participants will have the opportunity to win one of more than 3,000 prizes, including a grand prize of an HP Digital Home Entertainment package and a trip for four to attend an upcoming DreamWorks Animation movie. “Life, like ‘Shrek the Third,’ is full of enchanted moments, and great photos are what make them last,” said Kathy Stromberg, vice president of marketing, North America, Imaging and Printing Group, Hewlett Packard.

Wi-Fi network photo contest : Finalists in Tropos Networks “Coolest Use of Citywide Wi-Fi Photo Contest” reveal that Internet connectivity is ubiquitous, providing anytime, anywhere access. The 12 finalist photos were chosen for their creative and unique depictions including such cool applications as a system that snaps a photo and uploads it to the web, surfing the web from the beach, a park, even a baseball game, and playing a video game online while in the car. Entrants were asked to submit an original photo that best depicts a “unique and cool way to use citywide Wi-Fi.” The Coolest Use of Citywide Wi-Fi Photo Contest was produced by Cohen-Friedberg Associates, a provider of online marketing and sales promotions.

Bird photography game : Large Animal Games, a developer of computer games for "casual" gamers, has just completed work on the world’s first bird photography game, entitled Snapshot Adventures: Secret of Bird Island, in which players travel the country photographing birds and unraveling a mystery. The downloadable PC game is published by iWin, Inc. A free 60-minute trial version of the game is available for download. “With Snapshot Adventures, we’re introducing both a novel play style and a new type of content to the casual game market. We feel lucky to have found a publisher like iWin who saw our vision and helped us make it a reality,” said Josh Welber, founding partner and Technical Director at Large Animal Games.

Epson photo awards : The Epson art photo award 2007/2008, year has become one of the most lucrative contests for young talent in the photographic arts. All classes, teams at academies, colleges and other educational centres worldwide are invited to participate by submitting their best images and concepts. Entries can be submitted from March 1, 2007 to January 31, 2008. Once again Art Colonge will exhibit the winning entries. Art Colonge, the traditional exhibition forum for the winning images and partner of the Epson art photo award, has rearranged its scheduling cycle from fall to spring. Consequently classes and project groups now have two semesters in which to submit their best works, from March 1, 2007 to January 31, 2008.

First Place was won by Nikonian Knut Askim, username "DrBjarnt", from Norway, with the portrait "Day Dreamer". Knut will receive a Hewlett-Packard B9180 Photosmart Pro Printer for gallery-quality prints with extended archival properties, a 3-Years Nikonians Gold Membership and a Certificate of Nikonians High Photographic Achievement. Second Place was awarded to Nikonian Nico Housen, username "nhou", from Belgium, for his wildlife image "Gentle Gentoo". London Eye photo competition

London Eye photo competition : The British Airways London Eye announces Fujifilm as sole sponsor of its online photography competition currently running as part of its 25 millionth visitor celebrations. As a result of Fujifilm’s sponsorship the winning photograph and selected runner up images will be exhibited on London’s South Bank, maximising exposure for the budding photographers and giving visitors to the area a unique new perspective on one of London’s most famous landmarks.
