Print exhibition at Hoopers Gallery in Clerkenwell : The Royal Photographic Society launched its 150th Annual International Print Exhibition to a packed house at Hoopers Gallery in Clerkenwell, London on Tuesday evening. The 150th Annual International Print Exhibition, which has been sponsored by Genix Imaging Ltd, was opened by The Society's President, Professor Ralph Jacobson ASIS Hon. FRPS, who awarded Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals to Richard Merritt FRPS, Alan Shawcross FRPS and Harry Borden respectively. The competition was open to members and non members, amateurs and professionals, and the final selection of 125 prints was chosen from a record 2,200 images submitted by 600 photographers worldwide.

Photography community unveils photo contest winner : The Photography Corner 2006 Photograph of the Year contest, announced December 19th, 2006, concluded Wednesday after two rounds of voting by the photography community by naming Winston Rockwell as the winner of the contest. The first Photograph of the Year contest held by Photography Corner, which featured ten, high-profile sponsors with over $14,000 in prizes to be won, drew in hundreds of entries and thousands of votes. The top prize given to Photographer Winston Rockwell consists of a variety of photography-related equipment, software, clothing, a web site, gift certificates and cash is valued at over $3.500, with the remaining prizes given to the top 10 finalists.

Free dog photo contest from American pet savers : The APSA (American Pet Savers Association) has announced that over $10,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded in the Cutest Dog Photo Contest including a $1,000 cash grand prize. Dog owners are welcome to win their share of the prizes. The deadline for the contest is February 15, 2007. The contest is open to everyone and entry is free. "Dog lovers are constantly snapping photographs of their furry friends," stated Rosa Bonbeur, contest chairperson. "Our contest gives people a chance to receive cash, prizes and worldwide exposure for their favorite cutest dog photos. Unlike other contests, your dog's bloodline or pedigree doesn't matter with us", continued Bonbeur.

American Humane Pets & Pals photo contest : Think you're handy with a digital camera? The American Humane Association is calling all photographers - amateur and professional - to show off their talent during the annual Pets & Pals Photo Contest, June 1 through July 31, 2007. Two grand-prize winners will each receive $2,000 and a prize package from American Humane. Four category-prize winners will each receive $500 and a prize package. Finalists will have their photos featured on American Humane's website, and all entries will be considered for use in American Humane's electronic and printed materials, giving the photos national exposure.
