Nokia competition to find rulers of the mobile world : Nokia announced the launch of its 2nd annual competition for developers and entrepreneurs working in the mobile space. The 'Mobile Rules!' competition aims to promote excellence in both applications developed for mobile and for businesses launching or promoting services in the mobile arena. In 2006, it was launched as the 'Web2Mobile' competition; the change of name reflects the increased scope, prizes and reach of this year's contest. Print exhibition at Hoopers Gallery in Clerkenwell : The Royal Photographic Society launched its 150th Annual International Print Exhibition to a packed house at Hoopers Gallery in Clerkenwell, London on Tuesday evening. The 150th Annual International Print Exhibition, which has been sponsored by Genix Imaging Ltd, was opened by The Society's President, Professor Ralph Jacobson ASIS Hon. FRPS, who awarded Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals to Richard Merritt FRPS, Alan Shawcross FRPS and Harry Borden respectively. The competition was open to members and non members, amateurs and professionals, and the final selection of 125 prints was chosen from a record 2,200 images submitted by 600 photographers worldwide.

Photography community unveils photo contest winner : The Photography Corner 2006 Photograph of the Year contest, announced December 19th, 2006, concluded Wednesday after two rounds of voting by the photography community by naming Winston Rockwell as the winner of the contest. The first Photograph of the Year contest held by Photography Corner, which featured ten, high-profile sponsors with over $14,000 in prizes to be won, drew in hundreds of entries and thousands of votes. The top prize given to Photographer Winston Rockwell consists of a variety of photography-related equipment, software, clothing, a web site, gift certificates and cash is valued at over $3.500, with the remaining prizes given to the top 10 finalists.

Scrapbook contest : Tamron announced the 2007 photo contest for scrapbookers called “An Emotional Appeal.” This marks the second year that Tamron is conducting a photo contest aimed at the scrapbook enthusiast. “We received more than 1,300 images last year in response to our contest announcement,” stated Stacie Errera, Chief Marketing Officer for Tamron. “Andre Costantini, a professional freelance photographer living in New York City, our contest judge, had to work incredibly hard to choose a winner and just 20 favorites from the gamut of emotional images that ran from tears of joy and frustration, to grins of all sorts and much more. Wi-Fi network photo contest : Finalists in Tropos Networks “Coolest Use of Citywide Wi-Fi Photo Contest” reveal that Internet connectivity is ubiquitous, providing anytime, anywhere access. The 12 finalist photos were chosen for their creative and unique depictions including such cool applications as a system that snaps a photo and uploads it to the web, surfing the web from the beach, a park, even a baseball game, and playing a video game online while in the car. Bird photography game : Large Animal Games, a developer of computer games for "casual" gamers, has just completed work on the world’s first bird photography game, entitled Snapshot Adventures: Secret of Bird Island, in which players travel the country photographing birds and unraveling a mystery. The downloadable PC game is published by iWin, Inc. A free 60-minute trial version of the game is available for download. “With Snapshot Adventures, we’re introducing both a novel play style and a new type of content to the casual game market.
