Editorial photography winners : Getty Images announced that Jonathan Lowenstein, Jonathan Torgovnik and Leo Maguire will each receive financial and editorial support enabling them to pursue new documentary photography projects. “Shadow Lives USA” is Jonathan Lowenstein’s winning photojournalism project, documenting six different issues facing those trying to enter the United States across the US-Mexico border. Lowenstein proposes that it is crucial to insert nuanced and sensitive depictions of undocumented workers’. His extensive travel and long-term commitment to document the plight of illegal immigrants, enable him to build lasting connections with the men and women who reside in the shadows of US society.

Nikon photo contest winners : Nikon is pleased to announce the winners of the Nikon Photo Contest International 2006-2007, one of the world's largest and most prestigious photo contests. The contest is held since 1969 and currently staged once every other year. The contest is an opportunity for photographers around the world to communicate and to enrich photographic culture for professionals and amateurs alike. A total of 53 prize winners were selected from among the large number of entries, with Mr. Tung Khanh Le from Vietnam selected as the winner of the Grand Prize for his work entitled "crossing waves": a powerful image capturing a dynamic subject with a photojournalistic touch.

The Guru Awards are a special Photoshop competition exclusively for conference attendees of Photoshop World that were created to recognize the innovation and creativity of our attendees. DXG YouTube online video contest : DXG USA announced the DXG “Short Shorts” YouTube Online Video Contest. “Short Shorts” Contest participants will produce and submit a maximum 1 minute video to DXG using any DXG camera or camcorder. Entries will be judged by a combination of originality, the number of YouTube views, ratings received, and number of favorites selected. Photo journalism from photographers : The World Press Photo exhibition showcases the best of press photography from across the globe. Annually, Amsterdam based World Press Photo organises a competition to select the best examples of photo-journalism from photographers, agencies, newspapers and magazines. Winning entries are selected by an international panel of independent judges from divergent backgrounds who bring a breadth of experience to the judging process. The Scottish Parliament exhibition will comprise 178 images drawn from news coverage of world events in 2006. The winning images were selected from 78,083 submitted by 4,460 photographers from 124 countries. Prizes were awarded to 60 photographers over 10 themed categories.

AVerVision video contest : AVerMedia Technologies, Inc., the leading provider of digital multimedia and presentation technology, announced the AVerVision Video Contest for North American K-12 and Higher-Ed classrooms. Teachers, administrators, or students are asked to create a 10-20 minute video describing original and interesting classroom lessons and applications with their document camera. Classes without a document camera can submit a video describing the difficulty of using traditional presentation technology in the classroom. Four new AVerVision document cameras will be awarded, one to each of the third, second, first and Grand Prize winners. The August/September issue of Wanderlust marks the 12th anniversary of the UK’s longest-running annual travel photography competition and Nikon is delighted to be involved in such a prestigious competition. For the Amateur category individuals are invited to submit up to four images in one or more of the following categories: People, Wildlife, Landscape or Festivals. Each winning image must reflect the overall theme of travel as well as interpreting the category concept in a unique way.
