1Gb mobile DRAM

Ralf Jurrien : 2007-08-13 17:00:00
Smallest 1Gb mobile DRAM from Hynix : Hynix Semiconductor, Inc. announced it has developed the industry's smallest 1Gb mobile DRAM. Mobile DRAMs are widely used in wireless and handheld applications such as mobile phones, digital still and video cameras, PDAs, PMPs, and GPS Navigation systems. These products are now designed in smaller and smaller packages reducing the size of the battery. Hynix's Mobile DRAMs are designed to meet the memory requirements of feature-rich portable applications that demand high memory density, high throughput and very low power dissipation features in a small form factor package. The product is also the industry's first commercially available 1Gb mobile DRAM built on Hynix's 66 nm process technology.

Video camera V1-8CAM

Ilse Jurriën : 2007-08-07 12:15:00
Video camera V1-8CAM : Interactive Frontiers introduced the V1-8CAM at the grand opening of Cool Clubs, a custom club and putter fitting center located in Scottsdale, Arizona. Cool Clubs founder Mark Timms selected Interactive Frontiers to develop the V1-8CAM for his state-of-the-art club fitting centers. The V1-8CAM simultaneously captures eight angles of video streams allowing Cool Club fitters to more precisely evaluate performance and determine optimal club and putter specifications for clients. “The V1-8CAM allows us to see all relevant angles of our clients’ putting strokes so we can accurately match each person’s putting style with the most advantageous putter measurements,” said Timms.

Mobile phone image processor with JPEG encoder

Mark Peters : 2007-08-04 18:07:00
Mobile phone image processor with JPEG encoder : Nethra Imaging has announced its latest smart camera chips, now available in the industry’s smallest package for low power, handheld consumer devices. The NI-2065/66 programmable image processor family can be integrated into camera module designs and handsets, providing consumers with “print quality” images from less expensive optics and digital still camera functionality from their mobile phone devices. The Image Processor is currently in production and includes a JPEG encoder for enhanced compression capabilities leading to high frame rate capture, hence reducing blur and storage time. Built on 0.13-micron and boasting low power, the image processors fit into a 5mm x 6mm package.

Photographs by Jacques Henri

Dennis Hissink : 2007-08-03 13:23:00
Photographs by Jacques Henri : Gallery Vassie is proud to present, an exhibition in conjunction with Foam of the work of the historic and acclaimed photographer Jacques Henri Lartigue (1894-1986). Born in Courbevoie, France in 1894, Lartigue was a privileged child and using his father’s camera took his first photographs at the age of six. This was the beginning of what would become a lifelong diary, creating an enduring record of 20th century French life. His charming and delightful work continued to capture with beauty and panache, the intimacies of family life and high society, with its ‘beautiful’; and that of aviation and motoring both in their infancy. The exhibition can be visited from 19th May until 16th June 2007.

Photo Imaging Council statement

Mark Peters : 2007-08-02 13:35:00
Photo Imaging Council statement : Photo Imaging Council members are actively assessing the implications of the proposal to classify certain types of digital camera as camcorders. The reclassification will mean they will now attract customs duty of 4.9%. The European Commission's Nomenclature Committee meeting in Brussels last Friday recommended the proposal in an Explanatory Note directing that a camera using the maximum storage capacity, capable of recording at least 30 minutes of a single sequential video recording, with a resolution of 800 x 600 pixels or higher at 23 frames per second or higher, will be classified as a video camera recorder under code 8525 80 91 - and therefore attract duty.
