Flash LED for digital cameras : Seoul Semiconductor, one of the ten largest LED manufacturers in the world, announced that it has launched a super bright and ultra-mini flash LED that will replace xenon lamps which are generally used as a flash light source for digital cameras or 5 mega pixel camera phones. Seoul Semiconductor's Flash LEDs will be applied to digital camera's flashes of a global digital camera manufacturer. Seoul Semiconductor's new flash LED, FCW211Z series, features super brightness, ultra-mini size, display of moving image, and long lifespan. FCW211Z flash LED can operate at high current of 2 Amp, and emit up to 100 candelas, which indicates more than twice the brightness level of conventional LEDs for Flash.

Melanson received the award on June 22 during the State Bar’s Annual Meeting in San Antonio. Melanson, 54, has led a distinguished career that spans more than 30 years in the semiconductor and electronics industry and has been awarded more than 100 patents, primarily in audio and mixed signal technologies. In particular, Melanson pioneered the development of new signal processing technologies that were key to reducing power consumption in hearing aid applications.

Rugged mobile computer : In 2005 Justin Dyster and Shane Lewis saw a need for a rugged handheld computer that was a little more advanced than anything else currently available on the market. The two engineers left the major defense and aerospace systems contractor they worked for, moved from Tucson to Chandler, Arizona, and began their quest to design and build the world’s first rugged ultra mobile computer. They turned to Avnet Electronics Marketing for help getting off the ground. Now their company, Black Diamond Advanced Technology, is set to bring the SwitchBack Ultra Mobile PC to market. The first SwitchBack is expected to roll off the assembly line between late August and early September.
