Travel photography contest

Ralf Jurrien : 2007-07-02 19:45:00
Travel photography contest : The smiling face of the kid selling oranges; the wizened all-knowing, all-seeing stare of the old woman in the background smoking a pipe; the regal, proud stance of the Samburu warrior; capturing these moments, these people, these faces and what photographing people is all about. So how do you do it? How do you get more than just a deadpan snapshot of a truly amazing face? At Intrepid Travel’s photography evening in its London store on July 4th, experienced professional travel photographer and organiser of the Travel Photographer of the Year awards Chris Coe will tell you how to improve your people photography. During his presentation Chris will show some of the great “people pictures” from the awards.

Ralf Jurrien : 2007-07-02 11:45:00
Rugged mobile computer : In 2005 Justin Dyster and Shane Lewis saw a need for a rugged handheld computer that was a little more advanced than anything else currently available on the market. The two engineers left the major defense and aerospace systems contractor they worked for, moved from Tucson to Chandler, Arizona, and began their quest to design and build the world’s first rugged ultra mobile computer. They turned to Avnet Electronics Marketing for help getting off the ground. Now their company, Black Diamond Advanced Technology, is set to bring the SwitchBack Ultra Mobile PC to market. The first SwitchBack is expected to roll off the assembly line between late August and early September.

Makrolon Polycarbonate used for data storage

Ilse Jurriën : 2007-06-29 18:55:36
Makrolon Polycarbonate used for data storage : Small and round, it provides enjoyable, crackle-free, crystal-clear sound, and it set off an acoustic revolution 25 years ago: the first pop CD to be made from Bayer MaterialScience’s (BMS) high-tech material Makrolon polycarbonate (PC) was ABBA’s album “The Visitors” in 1982. The compact disc produced the songs of the Swedish cult band in a sound quality that was totally new at the time, so that this shiny object totally changed the international music industry. It also changed the way people listened to music - forever. What is more, it heralded the global conquest of optical data storage.
