3D printer Desktop Factory 125ci : Desktop Factory, Inc., announced that, in response to growing customer demand, the company will begin accepting reservations for its forthcoming low-cost 3D printer, the Desktop Factory 125ci. Starting today, Desktop Factory will begin taking a 10% deposit ($495) for the first 1,000 reservation orders placed via the company’s web site. With the introduction of the Desktop Factory 3D printer, disruptively priced at $4,995, Desktop Factory is bringing the power of printing in 3D to the masses. “The potential of 3D printing and the vast array of applications for the technology immediately captures people’s imagination,” said Cathy Lewis, CEO of Desktop Factory.

Inkjet printer head cleaner : Harvey the Headcleaner, a computer program that will reduce, if not eliminate inkjet printer head clogging, has just come on the market. Harvey is the brainchild of Gainesville, Florida, entrepreneur and inventor Richard Hilton, and was developed by computer programmer Patrick Flahan of Odessa, Florida. Hilton, president of Hilton Images, Inc., has manufactured laser sublimation toner cartridges under the brand name SubToner since 1999, and recently became an authorized distributor for Sawgrass Technologies sublimation products for inkjets. Since the inception of SubToner, Hilton heard customers complain about clogged heads, which often can be deadly for an inkjet printer.

Color printing technology from Memjet : The new Memjet color printing technology, the first to combine high speed and quality color at a leading price/performance, was unveiled in Kia Silverbrook’s keynote address at the Global Ink Jet Printing Conference in Prague. The new technology prints full-color images at 60 pages per minute (ppm), many times the inkjet industry standard. The technology, which will be a fraction of the price of high-speed color laser devices, will soon be available for OEMs targeting the home/office, photo-kiosk and label markets. The Memjet technology, which has been in development for more than 10 years, is backed by more than 1,400 US patents; about 2,000 more are pending.
