Learn photography with Stephen Johnson

Mark Peters : 2007-06-25 11:08:00
Learn photography with Stephen Johnson : Noted photographer Stephen Johnson has taught digital photography for 15 years. During that time, he has been working to make photography workshops more hands-on enabling students to experience and walk away feeling more confident in their skills. To this end, he built a full digital imaging lab in a bus to take on field workshops. He began planning his own digital lab to add to his workshop program where students would not be constrained by under-powered, under-equipped digital tools, and constrained by ink and paper. His new State of the Art Hands-on Lab opened in March and is ready for summer workshops. Stephen has been teaching and working in photography since 1977.

Latin women photography exhibition

Ilse Jurriën : 2007-06-09 18:00:00
Latin women photography exhibition : PDNB Gallery is celebrating the Latin Woman’s vision with a group exhibition of classic and contemporary photographs. Artists included in this important exhibition: Mariana Yampolsky, Flor Garduño, Lola Alvarez Bravo, Graciela Iturbide, Cristina García Rodero, Delilah Montoya and Marta María Pérez Bravo. This exhibition does not really classify a woman’s vision or a Latin vision. It merely unfolds a rich landscape of imagery perhaps only a Latin woman can see. For example, Lola Alvarez Bravo’s portrait of the painter Frida Kahlo reveal more than this enigmatic subject. Bravo allows into the frame the mirrors and objects and pets that meant so much to Frida, as Frida included in her own paintings.

Ralf Jurrien : 2007-05-26 23:28:00
P-OLED microdisplay demonstrated at SID 2007 : MicroEmissive Displays will be demonstrating its advanced polymer OLED microdisplay technology at SID 2007. Demonstration kits for its production eyescreen products will show how the devices can be readily incorporated into wearable head-sets for personal TV and video viewing and electronic viewfinders for digital cameras, camcorders and night vision systems. The demo kits feature a series of video clips to showcase the superior image quality of MED's P-OLED technology, its vivid colours and high contrast ratio, and motion video that is free from blur and flicker. Headsets using eyescreen devices benefit further from the products' digital interface and low power consumption.

International Photo Metadata Conference

Mark Peters : 2007-04-06 16:54:00
International Photo Metadata Conference : For the first time, an international conference focusing exclusively on photo metadata will bring together camera makers, photographers, editors, software designers and others who have a stake in professional imaging. The Metadata Conference will be held in Florence, Italy, on 7 June 2007. This event is organised by two major news industry organisations, IPTC and Ifra, and is sponsored by Adobe. Everyone agrees that it's difficult to describe photos in a universal way - independent of language and culture - but only recently have technologies such as XML permitted photos to carry advanced metadata that can survive throughout the photo production process from camera to finished product.
