Asia Mobile Awards 2007 at the Macau convention centre : The GSM Association launched the Asia Mobile Awards 2007, a new awards programme for companies across the mobile value chain that serve users in the Asia region with compelling mobile content, products and services. Categories include Mobile Entertainment, Mobile Advertising, Social Networking, and also Mobile Broadband Device. The Asia Mobile Awards are now open for entry and will close on Friday 28th September 2007. Presentation of the Asia Mobile Awards will form the climax of a special gala dinner at the Macau Tower Entertainment & Convention Centre, on Tuesday 13th November 2007, as part of the GSMA’s Mobile Asia Congress (12-15 November 2007).

Texar Inventor of the Year Award : John Melanson, Academy Award-winning distinguished fellow with Cirrus Logic, is the recipient of the Texas Inventor of the Year Award, given annually by the State Bar of Texas, as chosen by the Bar’s Intellectual Property Law Section. Melanson received the award on June 22 during the State Bar’s Annual Meeting in San Antonio. Melanson, 54, has led a distinguished career that spans more than 30 years in the semiconductor and electronics industry and has been awarded more than 100 patents, primarily in audio and mixed signal technologies. In particular, Melanson pioneered the development of new signal processing technologies that were key to reducing power consumption in hearing aid applications.


BMW Group earns design team of the year award

BMW Group earns design team of the year award : The design team of the year 2007 award this year went to Chris Bangle and his design team from BMW Group. This highest distinction of the renowned red dot design awards was thereby conferred to the design department of a German company. The award honours design teams that set standards through continual design innovation. Among the former recipients are LG Electronics, adidas, Pininfarina, Nokia, Apple, Siemens, and frogdesign. The BMW Group team will be honoured at the red dot award: product design 2007 awards ceremony, to take place on 25 June 2007. There, Professor Wolf D. Prix, architect, founder, and president of Coop Himmelbau will confer the award to the team of laureates.

We are introducing a brand new annual format for the 2007 Pixel Trade Show Awards which is certain to become a date in the industry diary not to be missed! With the London Waldorf Hilton on the Strand being the chosen venue for the show, we feel that we are taking this industry only bash to a level where it really deserves to be. Throughout the daytime there will be the Trade Show, a much different show from the Pixel Trade Show 2005. We have greatly reduced the scale of the show this year, making it extremely easy to see all of the industry in a single day.


National Medal of Technology for Xerox

National Medal of Technology for Xerox : Xerox Corporation has been selected to receive the US National Medal of Technology, “recognizing over fifty years of innovation” The award will be presented at the White House next month. The National Medal of Technology is the highest honor awarded by the President of the United States to America’s leading innovators. The medal is given to individuals, teams, and/or companies/divisions for their outstanding contributions to the nation’s economic, environmental and social well-being through the development and commercialization of technology products, processes and concepts; technological innovation; and development of the nation’s technological manpower.

DIWA Platinum Awards 2006 : DIWA (Digital Imaging Websites Association), a world-wide organization of collaborating websites, has the pleasure of announcing the winners of the annual DIWA Platinum Awards for 2006. DIWA members from Europe and North America continuously test and review digital imaging products. For digital cameras, more than 200 details must be checked, tested and evaluated. Each review is then carefully monitored and compared by DIWA to ensure error free, reliable and comprehensive test results. Each year, all gold winners from the previous year are re-evaluated by the 10 member websites of the DIWA organization. Best compact camera at TIPA awards : Fujifilm FinePix Z5fd, has received critical acclaim in Europe. Technical Image Press Association (TIPA) voted the FinePix Z5fd the 'Best Ultra Compact Digital Camera' at the TIPA Awards 2007 calling it a 'technological marvel'. This follows in the footsteps of the FinePix F30 - championed for its low light capabilities - which won the TIPA Best Compact Digital Camera 2006. The hotly contested TIPA awards are widely regarded as the European 'Oscars' of the photo and imaging industry.
