National Medal of Technology for Xerox : Xerox Corporation has been selected to receive the US National Medal of Technology, “recognizing over fifty years of innovation” The award will be presented at the White House next month. The National Medal of Technology is the highest honor awarded by the President of the United States to America’s leading innovators. The medal is given to individuals, teams, and/or companies/divisions for their outstanding contributions to the nation’s economic, environmental and social well-being through the development and commercialization of technology products, processes and concepts; technological innovation; and development of the nation’s technological manpower.

DIWA Platinum Awards 2006 : DIWA (Digital Imaging Websites Association), a world-wide organization of collaborating websites, has the pleasure of announcing the winners of the annual DIWA Platinum Awards for 2006. DIWA members from Europe and North America continuously test and review digital imaging products. For digital cameras, more than 200 details must be checked, tested and evaluated. Each review is then carefully monitored and compared by DIWA to ensure error free, reliable and comprehensive test results. Each year, all gold winners from the previous year are re-evaluated by the 10 member websites of the DIWA organization. The very best from each of the three digital camera categories are honored with a DIWA Platinum Award.

Best compact camera at TIPA awards : Fujifilm FinePix Z5fd, has received critical acclaim in Europe. Technical Image Press Association (TIPA) voted the FinePix Z5fd the 'Best Ultra Compact Digital Camera' at the TIPA Awards 2007 calling it a 'technological marvel'. This follows in the footsteps of the FinePix F30 - championed for its low light capabilities - which won the TIPA Best Compact Digital Camera 2006. The hotly contested TIPA awards are widely regarded as the European 'Oscars' of the photo and imaging industry. The FinePix Z5fd is the first of Fujifilm's 'Z' range series to feature Fujifilm's hardware-based Face Detection technology - which can detect faces and optimise exposure settings in an industry leading 0.05 seconds.

International photography awards competition : Open Competition for all UK photographers to compete for international acclaim and a trip to New York to attend the prestigious IPA Lucie Awards. Premium international beer brand Pilsner Urquell is to further its commitment to supporting photography by launching The Deeper Perspective. The innovative category is open to all photographers, as part of the 2007 Pilsner Urquell International Photography Awards competition. Every photograph has its own unique story. Metropolitan fine printers wins Kodak award : For the second time in two years, Metropolitan Fine Printers won the Kodak Best Stochastic Printing Award presented by the International Association of Printing House Craftsmen (IAPHC). Metropolitan Fine Printers accepted the award at the IAPHC’s International Gallery Best of the Best Awards, Jan. 27, 2007, in Las Vegas. The IAPHC awards celebrate outstanding achievement in the art and science of printing and related graphic arts, and are recognized globally as one of the graphic arts industry’s highest honors. “Best of the Best” awards honor those entries that set new levels of excellence. Photographers awards gala held in London theater : The Association of Photographers announce that their annual Awards are being held this year in a gala event at Sadler's Wells Theater, London. Around one thousand guests are expected to attend this leading showcase. The Gala evening includes a reception at which the Awards Exhibition of 350 selected images will be launched together with the Awards Book, followed by an on-stage presentation of the coveted Gold, Silver and Bronze. DKS Minilabs win DIMA Shoot-Out award : A jury of photographic imaging experts has determined that output from the DKS 1770 and DKS 1610 digital minilabs, manufactured by KIS Photo-Me Group, is superior to any of its competitors, and has awarded the minilabs first prize in this year’s DIMA Shoot-Out image quality competition, it was announced at the Photo Marketing Association Convention and Trade Show here.
