HP Technology for teaching leadership awards : HP awarded nearly $2.5 million in equipment, cash and professional development opportunities to 25 US learning institutions as a part of the 2007 HP Technology for Teaching Leadership awards. Part of the company’s 2007 HP Technology for Teaching grant program, the teaching leadership awards are designed to transform and improve learning in the classroom through innovative uses of technology. They were presented to 15 K-12 public schools and 10 two- and four-year colleges and universities that received grants in 2006-2007 and were invited to apply for additional investment support. HP focuses on simplifying technology experiences for all of its customers

Fujifilm FinePix S5 Pro receives EISA Award : The Fujifilm FinePix S5 Pro, a digital reflex camera from Fujifilm, has been chosen by the Electronic Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) as its European Advanced Camera 2007-2008. The statement from this renowned association of more than 50 trade journals across all of Europe gave the reasons: “One of the special features of the Super CCD SR Pro image sensor from Fujifilm used in the Fujifilm FinePix S5 Pro digital SLR camera is that it offers an extensive dynamic range with extremely low image noise and good contrast characteristics. This gives the Fujifilm d-SLR camera a particularly high value within the overall digital reflex camera market."


Leica Oskar Barnack Award 2007

Leica Oskar Barnack Award 2007 : The 26-year-old Brazilian photographer Julio Bittencourt has won the 2007 Leica Oskar Barnack Award for a series of portraits of inhabitants of a house occupied by homeless people in downtown São Paulo. Honourable mentions went to the Spanish photographer José Cendon for a reportage project in psychiatric hospitals in East Africa and the Norwegian Margaret M. de Lange, who captured the childhood and youth of her two daughters in a long-term photographic project. Held since 1979 in memory of the inventor of the first 35mm camera, Oskar Barnack (1879 - 1936), the competitions each year centres on the relationship between man and his environment.

EISA Award Pentax K10D : Pentax Corporation is pleased to announce that the Pentax K10D lens-interchangeable digital SLR camera, first launched in the European market in November 2006, was selected as the “EISA European Camera of the Year 2007-2008” by the prestigious European Imaging & Sound Association (EISA). The Masters Awards are given in recognition of a photographer’s contribution to the art of photography and are judged on overall photographic ability, encompassing creativity, composition, conceptual strength, and technical skill. Hasselblad has awarded twelve separate Masters Awards each year, with an annual calendar presented featuring the winners’ work. Past Masters have included both renowned artists of international standing e.g. Albert Watson, Anton Corbijn or Patrick Demarchelier.

Nikon D200 DSLR wins DIWA Platinum Award : The Nikon D200 DSLR won the Platinum Award for Best Digital System Camera for 2006 from the Digital Imaging Websites Association (DIWA). DIWA is a worldwide organization of photographic experts who run collaborating websites that continuously test and review digital imaging products. The Platinum award, awarded only to the very best of cameras that have previously won a Gold award, is the highest recognition DIWA offers. “Nikon Europe is particularly proud of winning the DIWA Platinum award for the D200, considering that DIWA’s rigorous evaluation process checks and tests over 200 items on each camera,” said Martina Beckmann, Manger Communications and Marketing Services of Nikon Europe BV.
