Smartphone protection

Mark Peters : 2007-06-25 16:02:00
Smartphone protection : Imagine designing a rugged case that completely seals a device, such as a Smartphone, from water, dust and dirt. Now add the challenge of providing sound transmission through the microphone and speaker openings without compromising protection. Impossible? Several months ago, OtterBox engineers faced this very dilemma. Donaldson Acoustic Vents proved the ideal solution for ensuring optimal sound quality while increasing the device protection offered by OtterBox. Donaldson’s acoustically transparent filtration vents seal microphone and speaker openings on OtterBox Smartphone cases from everyday elements. The vents serve as effective barriers to contaminants such as hairspray, oils, perspiration and water.

Face detection technology on digital cameras

Ilse Jurriën : 2007-06-15 13:39:00
Face detection technology on digital cameras : A new breed of digital cameras was introduced earlier this year that are claimed to actually see a face in a scene, lock focus on it and adjust flash output and exposure so it comes out great. But does it really work as claimed? Veteran photo industry writer Jason Schneider takes new cameras with this feature into the field and reports on the results in an exclusive AIRC - Adorama Imaging Resource Center article, "Does Face Detection Technology Really Work?" "Conventional autofocus (AF) systems, even those with multiple AF zones, will sometimes miss the faces and focus on something else that's between them, farther away or closer, which results in out-of-focus pictures," notes Schneider.

Fujifilm UVIR forensic filter

Ilse Jurriën : 2007-06-07 14:30:15
Fujifilm high quality UVIR forensic filter : Fujifilm USA has contracted with Peca Products, Inc. to produce a high quality ultraviolet and infrared forensic filter kit for use with our line of UVIR sensitive forensic digital cameras. The kit contains the most common yet hard to find set of filters that most forensic specialists use during investigations. Dealers are often asked to suggest filters for use with Fujifilm cameras. In addition, most of the IR filters needed are no longer in production by many of the popular filter suppliers making this more difficult. The filters are high quality glass and are sized for 67mm filter threaded lenses. Most common investigative macro lenses have thread mounts between 55mm and 67mm.
