Xerox helping hands office makeover contest : The outdated technology at Indianapolis’ most obsolete nonprofit office was hindering efforts to raise funds and support the nonprofit’s cause. Now, a dramatic makeover has provided employees with an impressive new look, all revealed today at the conclusion of Xerox Corporation’s “Helping Hands” Office Makeover contest. The contest winner - the Indiana Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation - has neglected its own needs to lend a hand to more than 800 people in Indiana living with the genetic disease. In just two days, crews transformed the bleak office into an inspiring and productive work space that boasts Xerox digital color printing systems and software.

Toppan Printing wins Xerox Best of Show award : Xerox Corporation has presented Toppan Printing Company America Inc. and graphic design student Monica Eun-Kyung Yoon with the “Best of Show” honor in the annual Printing Innovation with Xerox Imaging Awards. The multinational competition recognizes innovation and excellence in digital printing applications. Toppan Printing Company America, a commercial printing company, and Yoon won for their “Fear” submission, a digitally printed book about various subjects that people fear, such as the future, loss and being judged. This year’s PIXI Awards competition received more than 300 entries, the largest number in the competition’s five-year history.

Xerox dual-engine turbocharges Nuvera print system : Gearing up for the printing industry’s largest annual exhibition in North America, Xerox Corporation will cap a cadence of recent product introductions by demonstrating a dual-print engine design that sets a new speed record for duplex black-and-white cut-sheet printing systems. Xerox will take the wraps off the new system at Graph Expo in Chicago, where the company is staging a 15,000-square-foot exhibit of digital technology and software. Operating at 288 impressions per minute, 144 two-sided pages, the company’s new twin-engine technology makes the Xerox Nuvera Digital Production system run twice as fast with image quality that is equivalent to offset printing standards.

Xerox printing and imaging services for AOL : Xerox Corporation has signed a five-year contract with AOL LLC to provide the online media company with on-site document scanning and imaging services. Xerox will also provide AOL with consulting services to improve business processes for these types of operations. Under the agreement, Xerox Global Services will help AOL streamline various corporate services, including sorting incoming hardcopy mail and scanning various accounts payable-related documents, such as vendor invoices, contract documents, and travel and expense documents. Xerox will provide AOL in-depth reports of the various functions to improve tracking and document management, which will result in greater efficiencies and lower costs.

Now, a dramatic makeover has propelled the educational agency to the top of its class with a new look, the latest document technology and fresh insight on how to work smarter, all revealed today after Xerox Corporation's "Helping Hands" Office Makeover Contest. The agency, called OpenWorld Learning, teaches nearly 600 elementary school students about technology every year. But the nonprofit has focused on the needs of its students rather than the needs of its office. Xerox Office Printers Awarded : In the first half of 2006, Xerox Corporation office printers, copiers and multifunction systems earned 146 honors and awards worldwide from leading IT testing and research organizations including Buyers Laboratory Inc., Industry Analysts Inc. and Better Buys for Business. Xerox received three "Pick of the Year" awards from BLI for the Phaser 7760 tabloid color laser printer and the WorkCentre Pro 232 and 238 multifunction systems that copy, print, scan and fax. BLI conducts intensive competitive testing on document products, comparing overall performance, productivity, reliability and ease of use, among many critical factors."We put products through the paces with our rigorous testing methods," said Anthony Polifrone, managing director, BLI.

Xerox WorkCentre 4118 desktop multifunction device : Xerox Corporation has launched the Xerox WorkCentre 4118 desktop multifunction device, designed to give small offices the advanced copying, printing, scanning and faxing typically found in high-end multifunction systems. Starting at $799, the WorkCentre 4118 copies and prints at 18 pages per minute and is available in two configurations. The WorkCentre 4118P copies and prints, and the WorkCentre 4118X adds faxing and color scanning. Both systems offer advanced copying features, such as ID Card Copy. It enables people to copy both sides of a document - such as an ID card, license or an insurance card - onto one side of the page.

Xerox acquires documents manager Amici LLC : To expand its document management services business, Xerox Corporation today announced that it has agreed to acquire privately-held Amici LLC for $174 million. Amici is a leading provider of electronic-discovery (e-discovery) services, primarily supporting litigation and regulatory compliance. E-discovery is the identification, filtering, production and storage of relevant data from paper or electronic documents, like e-mail, text files, memos, databases, presentations and spreadsheets. Projected to grow at an annual compounded rate of close to 40 percent of the market, e-discovery services could be a nearly $2.5 billion market in the U.S. by 2009, according to IDC.

Xerox Documate 632 scanner : The Xerox DocuMate 632, announced today at Transform ‘06, is a new duplex flatbed scanner that was designed specifically for departmental use and incorporates Visioneer OneTouch technology for eliminating multiple steps in sending scanned documents to predetermined applications or devices. It is the only scanner that can be programmed to automatically scan to 99 different destinations and be customized for each person in the department. The Xerox DocuMate 632 has an 8.5” x 14.5” flatbed that can accommodate documents up to legal size. It scans 70 images per minute for double-sided documents and the included Scan-to-PDF software bundle allows users to automatically scan to image-over-text searchable PDF.

Xerox Scientists look into The Future of Imaging : An image of a bird sometime in the future may be more than just a picture. It could also carry data and models that can produce the bird's song, display its feeding or mating behavior, and describe its habitat and food preferences, according to Siddhartha Dalal of Xerox Corporation, who today described his vision of "ubiquitous imaging" in a keynote address here at the International Congress of Imaging Science. He was one of several Xerox scientists presenting at the conference this week. Dalal is vice president and manager of Xerox's Imaging and Services Technology Center, the focal point for the company's core research in digital imaging, document management and services.

Xerox WorkCentre printers receive NIAP certification : Xerox Corporation has earned the international standard in information security for 12 more of its mid- and high-speed office multifunction products. These systems join 18 other Xerox digital color and black-and-white office products, giving Xerox the broadest array of printers and copiers certified to meet customers' strictest security requirements. The Xerox WorkCentre 232/238/245/255/265/275 copier printers and the six corresponding WorkCentre Pro advanced multifunction systems received the National Information Assurance Partnership's Common Criteria Certification. NIAP is a US government initiative created to meet the security testing needs of IT consumers and companies.

Xerox pairs motorcycle with Nuvera print system : Xerox will rev up the excitement around its monochrome Xerox Nuvera Digital Production System with a marketing program that pairs it with a high-speed custom motorcycle built by California-based bike designer Arlen Ness. The bike will highlight many of the Xerox Nuvera system's features - quality, speed & performance - with head-turning imagery & design work. The Xerox motorcycle, named "Nu-Ness" - a combination of the "Nu" in Nuvera and Ness, tied to the naming tradition of bikes created by Ness and his son Cory - will feature a fine detail paint job with the kind of black-and-white contrasts, halftones and line work that's found in monochrome documents produced on Nuvera systems.
