MP3 players and gaming devices perfect holiday gift : MP3 players continue to reign at the top of teens' holiday wish lists, just above video game systems, according to the 3rd Annual Teen Holiday Survey. Portable gaming devices, computers and cell phones round out the top five consumer electronics devices teens are asking for this holiday season. "This will mark yet another strong year in the growing phenomenon of portable digital audio devices, especially among the teen market," said Sean Wargo, CEA's director of industry analysis. "In fact, CEA expects more than 33 million units of MP3 devices will ship this year." The percentage of teens wanting a portable digital audio device, has doubled, rising from 8 percent to 16 percent.

More than half of consumers prefer receiving personalized photo greeting cards, with 84 percent saving those cards from family and friends, according to a survey conducted by Eastman Kodak Company. Also, more than one-third of consumers consider a personalized photo calendar the best “gift from the heart.” Recipients treasure photographs because they create connections. More than 90 percent of people believe that sharing experiences through photographs helps them bond with others. A nearly identical amount feel that it’s important to take photographs.

According to Fortune Senior Editor Peter Lewis, “Celestron's SkyScout is the best thing to happen to backyard astronomers.” Telescopes Marketing Director Jon Thralow said, “It’s like the Tickle Me Elmo and PlayStation craze but this is for science geeks. The SkyScout is a $399,- item that has sold for more than double that on eBay.” The company will honor all orders without raising prices, but soon will not be able to guarantee delivery before Christmas.

Sony Ericsson ranks highest in satisfying customers who have owned their current mobile phone for less than two years, according to the J.D. Power and Associates 2006 U.S. The study measures customers' satisfaction with their wireless handsets based on five key performance factors. In order of importance, these are: physical design (24%); operation (22%); features (20%); handset durability (19%); and battery function (15%). Sony Ericsson receives the highest ratings from customers in handset durability, and also performs particularly well in features and battery functionality.
