HP & Care campaign against global poverty : Sharing a common belief in the power of photography to draw attention to social issues, HP and Care are teaming together in a joint global program that will send teams of photographers to capture the essence of Care’s “I Am Powerful” campaign. In the next two months, the program will dispatch five photographic teams, each composed of one renowned photographer and a photography student, to different regions of the world where Care has on-the-ground poverty-fighting operations. The images taken during the expeditions will be used to showcase the power of today’s digital printing technology. It will also expose new audiences to Care’s work to empower women in the fight against poverty.

Verizon Business helps American Red Cross : The American Red Cross has entered into an agreement with Verizon to more rapidly provide aid to individuals affected by natural disasters and other events. Verizon Business will provide an advanced Contact Center Service solution to help the Red Cross improve its emergency response for disaster victims. Verizon can route calls to Red Cross disaster relief agents located anywhere in the US. In addition to the advanced call routing solution, Verizon Business will provide the Red Cross with wide area network connectivity, managed network services, toll-free Enhanced Call Routing, an interactive voice response service, Contact Center Professional Services and customer premises equipment.

Digital Photo Survey from Corel : The popularity of digital photography is evident by the growing number of images stored and shared online each year. But with all of these images being stored, it's no wonder 55% of consumers feel that managing and organizing their digital photo collections is "overwhelming and confusing," according to a national study conducted by Corel Corporation and online survey services provider Zoomerang. The 2006 Digital Photo Survey revealed that the "digital shoebox" problem comparing the photos scattered throughout a hard drive to hardcopy photos thrown into a shoebox, with little organization has become the "distributed shoebox", with collections strewn between online and offline folders.

Color filters for TFT liquid displays : Fuji Photo Film Co., Ltd. announced today that it has concluded a contract with a major Chinese home appliance and electronic components company SVA Electron Co., Ltd. to establish a joint venture company called SVA-Fujifilm Opto-Electronic Materials Co., Ltd to manufacture color filters for TFT liquid crystal displays in Shanghai. SVA-Fujifilm will be the first company in China to manufacture color filters for large- size TFT LCDs. The new company will supply large-size color filters used in laptops, monitors, and large screen TVs for the rapidly growing Chinese LCD market, mainly through SVA-NEC, a member of the SVA group.
