OLED display increases lifetime and efficiency : Royal Philips Electronics and Novaled announce that in a joint research effort between Philips Lighting, Philips Research and Novaled, an unsurpassed record combination for efficiency and lifetime of high-brightness white Oled (Organic Light-Emitting Diodes) has been established. Philips and Novaled reached a new record for the power efficiency of a white OLED, obtaining 32 lm/W with colour coordinates of 0,47/0,45 and a CRI of 88 at a brightness of 1000 cd/m2. That same device structure thereby simultaneously shows a lifetime of more than 20000 hours which is a major achievement for a future commercialization of the OLED technology for lighting applications.

It is the world's largest annually printed publication distributed in over 34 countries worldwide with an expected 174 million copies to be produced in 2006. Also at SID, Samsung is unveiling widescreen versions of 24", 27" and 30" monitors for specialty-market, digital information displays. The new 3.5" LCD, referred to as the 3.5" hTSP features qVGA resolution and a built-in touch screen. Normally, an LCD panel with touch screen must have a separate printed circuit board that contains sensor circuitry.
