IDC ranks Canon No.1 in Digital Camera Market 2005 : Canon Europe’s position as a leading provider of imaging technology solutions has been reconfirmed by IDC, ahead of the release of the industry analyst’s forthcoming Western European digital camera market forecast report, in which Canon is positioned as the 2005 market leader for the fourth consecutive year. The forthcoming IDC sector report will show that, despite increased market competition, Canon has retained the No.1 position in 2005 and claims 16.5% of the overall Western European digital camera market, which saw total shipments of 27 million units (up from 25 million in 2004). IDC has calculated combined sales for Canon in 2005 of more than 4 million units for SLR (D-SLR) and compact digital cameras, allowing the company to double its lead over closest competitor Sony from 2.8% to 5.6%.

Canon releases 89 consumer products in 2006 : Canon announces that it will have released a total of 89 new consumer products this year - an average of one consumer product released every four days. The announcement coincides with the start of Photokina, the bi-annual European imaging and photography exhibition hosted in Cologne from tomorrow. Canon holds the number one position in the D-SLR camera, Digital Still Camera, Compact Photo Printer and scanner markets, and has the number one selling product in the Digital Still Camera and Inkjet Printer markets (with the Digital IXUS 55 and PIXMA iP4200 respectively). Canon is also driving the fast growing HD video market with the release of the HV10: world’s smallest HDV 1080i camcorder.

"Memory cards are used on an increasingly large number of handsets, such as music phones, television-capable phones, pocket PCs and PDAs. The storage devices are also popular with customers who store and send pictures and videos," said Maria Hernandez, U.S. Region Vice President and General Manager at CellStar. Duracell advertising campaign : Duracell unveiled the latest commercial in its highly successful "Trusted Everywhere" advertising campaign. The 30-second television spot depicts the life-saving work of AirLife Denver, an emergency rescue transport service that uses Lear Jets, helicopters and ground ambulances to save trauma patients and bring them to area hospitals. The "Trusted Everywhere" campaign, now its fourth successful year, is designed to reinforce the power of Duracell batteries by demonstrating two parallel uses of electronic devices - one in an everyday situation and the other in a critical capacity. The latest spot, which is entitled "Two Helicopters," opens with a father teaching his young daughter how to fly a remote-controlled toy helicopter in a park.
