Sony DCR DVD105 : Sony is taking the lead in bringing the focus on audio performance to the camcorder market with its new Sony DCR DVD105 camcorder. "Nothing preserves memories better than moving images with sound," said Linda Vuolo, director for camcorder products at Sony Electronics. "We are offering new enhancements to both audio and video performance in our 2006 product line." Now when you record your child's lead performance in cinematic surround sound, you can be sure that his or her voice will stand out clearly in the troupe. In total, Sony is introducing five new DVD Handycam camcorders. Across the DVD line, you find Carl Zeiss optics for exceptional video quality, improved menu functions and access controls.

It offers long record times and seamless PC connectivity. The Sony DCR-SR100 unit features built-in Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound and supports Sony's new optional center-channel Bluetooth microphone for a cinematic sound experience.

Sony Reader electronic paper : The Sony Reader is expected to bring a whole new meaning to "book smart." Coupling an innovative electronic paper display with precise one-handed navigation and a stylish, durable design, the Sony Reader will allow active readers to carry as much as they want to read whether they are traveling on the road or just around the corner. Roughly the size of a paperback novel, but thinner than most (about .5 inches thin), the device can store hundreds of books in internal memory with the addition of an optional Memory Stick or Secure Digital (SD) card. The electronic Reader can also store and display personal documents in Adobe PDF format, favorite web content like blogs or news feeds, and JPEG photos.

Sony ICX624 CCD sensor : The trends towards further miniaturization and increased pixel counts continue to progress without pause. Furthermore, market needs for improved imaging characteristics continue to increase as well. Sony is now releasing the ICX624AQN/CQV/CQZ diagonal 7.18 mm (Type 1/2.5) 6.04M-effective pixel interline CCDs. These devices not only achieve further miniaturization and higher resolution with a 2.03 micronunit pixel by taking full advantage of Sony’s unique fine fabrication technology, but also improve smear and other imaging characteristics over earlier devices. The trend in pixel counts in consumer digital still cameras is about to shift from the current mainstream, 5M-pixel devices to the 6M-pixel level.

Sony video DVD production software update : Sony Media Software, announced the immediate availability of a Vegas software update, version 7.0c, free to all registered Vegas 7 users. This is a significant enhancement to the award-winning professional video, audio, and DVD production suite that was introduced at IBC 2006. New functionality includes support for the progressive scan modes (24A and 30 modes on the V1U/V1J/V1N camcorders, and 25 mode on the V1E/V1P/V1C camcorders) on the Sony HVR-V1 series HDV camcorders, and a built-in import module for the HVR-DR60 Hard Disk Recording Unit. With the 7.0c update, Vegas will properly handle the V1 series progressive scan modes automatically, without manual intervention.
