Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo memory card : SanDisk Corporation and Sony Corporation today announced the development of the Memory Stick PRO-HG format expanded from the Memory Stick PRO format. The continuing increase in the capacity of IC recording media has broadened its usage as a practical way to store high-resolution digital photos, music and video content (from the Internet or TV programs) on portable devices that are designed to handle digital entertainment content. The demand for real-time recording and transfer of multiple gigabytes of data using IC recording media is expected to increase rapidly, due to the growing popularity of high resolution video and digital still image applications.

Sony 8GB Micro Vault midi : Sony Recording Media & Energy (RME) division announced the 8GB Micro Vault ‘Midi’, doubling the maximum capacity in its line-up of USB flash storage devices. With 8GB native storage capacity the new Micro Vault is capable of holding over 2,000 MP3 songs or high definition images, or more than 20 hours of MPEG4 video footage. In addition, the pre-installed Virtual Expander compression software allows you to store up to 3 times more data. Micro Vault Midi models now incorporate an innovative retractable USB connector port. Gone are the days of losing the protective cap. Simply extend the connector and you’re ready to plug and play. The LED indicator, is built into the semi-transparent slide button.

Sony takes Memory Stick to the movies : Sony’s new Memory Stick Entertainment Packs are designed for people who want to experience the full range of multi-functional features on their PSP (PlayStation Portable) system. In concert with Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, Sony Electronics will be making 1GB and 2GB Memory Stick Duo Entertainment Packs available that will be bundled with an installer DVD. With the installer DVD loaded into a personal computer, you can use the complimentary unlock code in the package to select, unlock and transfer one of four Sony movies optimized for PSP playback from the DVD to the Memory Stick media. The movies to choose from are: “Hitch,” “S.W.A.T,” “The Grudge” or “XXX: State of the Union.”

Sony launches Memory Stick Data Rescue Service : Sony launches Memory Stick Data Rescue Service to download, the new service enables quick recovery of deleted photographs and files Sony Europe’s Recording Media & Energy division today announced the launch of its new Memory Stick Data Rescue Service. The service enables recovery of photography and data files which, once stored on a Memory Stick have been lost or deleted. The File Rescue software is free and can be downloaded from the Sony customer support website This tool requires customers to register the Memory Stick model name and serial number before download of the recovery software can begin. The easy to use Memory Stick File Rescue software can recover .jpg, MPEG1 and .mp4.

Sony Memory Stick Micro : Sony Europe’s Recording Media & Energy (RME) division has today announced that it will introduce the first Sony Memory Stick Micro (M2) products with storage capacities of 256MB, 512MB and 1GB later this year. The new ultra-small memory card is designed to meet the growing storage needs of highly compact, multifunctional mobile phones. The Sony Memory Stick M2 will be bundled with an adaptor in the size of a standard Memory Stick which will allow users to exchange data to Memory Stick PRO compatible products. SanDisk also introduced their M2 memory flash card in September 2006. The Memory Stick PRO format is co-developed with Sony and provides a new, versatile IC recording media for mobile products.
