SanDisk second place in Madcap Shopping Spree : Displaying their trademark competitive spirit as well as their holiday spirit, executives from six prominent Silicon Valley companies, including SanDisk CEO Eli Harari, raced through the aisles of a local Target store on Friday in a frenzied 20-minute shopping spree to scoop up gifts for underprivileged children. The event was the second annual CEO Shopping Challenge sponsored by The Family Giving Tree, a charitable organization. Harari and a posse of SanDisk vice-presidents filled up more than 50 shopping carts, chalking up $34,241 worth of presents and earning SanDisk second place in the gift-raising event, which benefits children in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Best Buy Digital Music Store : Today, Best Buy unveiled the Best Buy Digital Music Store, a new service that will give customers an easy way to enjoy, manage, and discover music. The new service is powered by the RealNetworks, Inc.’s Rhapsody 4.0 music service, and features both a permanent download store and a subscription download service. As part of this launch, Best Buy also will carry and promote the SanDisk Sansa e200R Rhapsody MP3 players, which have been optimized to work seamlessly with the Best Buy Digital Music Store. The Best Buy Digital Music Store and the Sansa e200R RhapsodyMP3 players will both be available at participating Best Buy stores as of Sunday, October 15th.

SanDisk mobile phone memory distributed by CellStar : CellStar Corporation announced that SanDisk, the world's largest supplier of flash data storage card products, has named CellStar a distributor for its extensive line of flash memory cards for the mobile phone industry. "Memory cards are used on an increasingly large number of handsets, such as music phones, television-capable phones, pocket PCs and PDAs. SanDisk Launches Fundraiser For Katrina Victims : Popular Keyboardist Freddie Ravel, The Jones Gang and Other Recording Artists Donate Song Tracks That Can Be Stored and Played on a USB Flash Drive. Owners of SanDisk’s Cruzer Freedom USB flash drive can now download more than 40 songs from a variety of international recording artists as part of an effort to raise money for victims of Hurricane Katrina. The offer uses a new technology that stores music to the flash drive but allows it to be played on any personal computer and other devices that accept USB connections. Although the tracks are available for free, SanDisk and the community of artists hope that Cruzer Freedom owners will make voluntary donations.
