SanDisk expands Flash Memory products to Mexico : SanDisk Corporation announced that it plans to expand retail sales in Mexico and introduced a variety of new consumer electronic products for the digital photography, personal portable storage device, digital audio and game console markets. The company made the announcement at a press conference in Mexico City. "Digital cameras, MP3 players, flash drives, gaming consoles and mobile phones are rapidly gaining popularity in Mexico and the rest of Latin America," said Wes Brewer, vice president of consumer product marketing at SanDisk Corporation. "These consumer electronic devices are an important part of daily life for an increasing number of business executives, students and consumers

The SanDisk Ultra 2 miniSD mobile memory card has faster read and write speeds than standard flash memory cards, as well as longer warranty periods. Faster read/write speeds improve performance of the card for file transfer and play on personal computers. Also, they may reduce the energy consumption on the batteries of certain phones and are expected to accommodate performance requirements of future mobile phone models. The announcement was made at the CeBIT 2006 Show in Hannover, Germany. The new SanDisk miniSD will be available starting at a capacity of 1 gigabyte.

SanDisk 4GB Memory Stick PRO Duo : SanDisk Corporation introduced a new 4 gigabyte (GB) capacity, the highest available in the market right now, for its standard Memory Stick PRO Duo cards. The announcement was made at the CeBIT Show in Hannover, Germany, where SanDisk is demonstrating its products. The move to a larger capacity 4GB Memory Stick PRO Duo card is in response to the release of new high-Megapixel cameras as well as hybrid models that combine digital still images and video. For example, one new camera that takes both high-resolution still images and high-quality MPEG4 video clips, at 30 frames per second, can provide a user with up to three hours of video capacity with a SanDisk 4GB Memory Stick PRO Duo card.

SanDisk 8GB Extreme III CompactFlash memory card : SanDisk Corp. today announced the addition of new card capacities to its Extreme III line of flash cards for professional digital cameras that are double the highest capacity points currently available. The new cards include the 8-gigabyte CompactFlash, 2GB SD and 2GB Memory Stick PRO Duo digital film cards. The announcement was made at the Photo Marketing Association trade show where SanDisk is demonstrating its products. SanDisk Extreme III CompactFlash and SD cards have minimum write and read speeds of 20 megabytes per second (MB/sec.) Memory Stick PRO Duo cards have minimum write and read speeds of 18 MB/sec. The cards will start shipping worldwide in March to photo retailers.

The card looks and functions like a typical SD card and its high speed makes it ideal for digital cameras, camera phones and digital video cameras. Folding the unique card in half reveals a high-speed USB 2.0 connector that plugs into any USB port to easily and quickly transfer photos or other data to a computer without the need for a separate card reader.
