Samsung sponsors NFL football exhibition : Samsung Electronics America, a world leader in consumer electronics is celebrating its second year of sponsorship with the NFL with an Samsung/NFL football game on Sept. 6, 2006. As part of the Official NFL 2006 Kick-off event, the flag football exhibition will showcase some of the NFL's greatest former players including: Hall of Famer Marcus Allen formerly of the Oakland Raiders, 1990's All-Decade Team and Minnesota Vikings receiver Cris Carter, the pride of the New York Jets Wayne Chrebet, three time Pro-Bowler Mark "Super" Duper and Pro-Bowler and Atlanta Falcons 1990s standout Jamal Anderson. Samsung mobile information displays at SID 2006 : Samsung Electronics, the world's largest provider of thin-film transistor, liquid crystal display panels, will introduce a 3.5" LCD with touch screen, and the first 7" LCD driven by a single chip, at the 2006 Society for Information Display International Symposium and Exhibition in San Francisco, California, USA. Also at SID, Samsung is unveiling widescreen versions of 24", 27" and 30" monitors for specialty-market, digital information displays. The new 3.5" LCD, referred to as the 3.5" hTSP features qVGA resolution and a built-in touch screen. Normally, an LCD panel with touch screen must have a separate printed circuit board that contains sensor circuitry.
Samsung expands distribution of LCD TV Panels : Samsung Electronics, the world’s largest provider of thin-film transistor, liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) panels, announced that it is ramping up production of 40-inch and larger LCD TV panels with Samsung S-PVA (super patterned vertical alignment) technology, in response to growing interest in the sharper, more versatile viewing experience that the technology enables. ”Consumers are clamoring for larger-sized screens and high-definition television, but finding that color accuracy and multi-angle viewing also are extremely important, particularly with larger screen sizes,” said Joe Virginia, Vice President, Samsung LCD Business.
