Samsung Hybrid Hard Drive unveiled : Samsung, the world leader in advanced memory technology, announced that it is exhibiting the first commercial prototype of a Hybrid Hard Disk (HHD), the much-anticipated next generation hard drive for notebooks and PCs that integrates NAND flash memory with rotating magnetic storage. The HHD will be exhibited with two cache densities, 128MB and 256MB, at the Windows Hardware Engineering Conference (WinHEC) in the Seattle, WA Conference Center. "We see the HHD as the most advanced and cost-effective means of improving the performance of a notebook computer's storage functionality," said Jon Kang, senior vice president, technical marketing group, Samsung Semiconductor.
Samsung 1.72-inch super-reflective LCD screen : Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., the world’s largest provider of thin-film transistor, liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) panels, announced that it has developed a 1.72-inch super-reflective (SR) LCD screen that can be read easily outdoors even when the sun is shining brightly. The reflectance rate for the new transflective SR LCD technology is three times that of the usual qqVGA-resolution (128x160 pixels) mobile displays available today. The super-reflective 1.72-inch LCD has a brightness of 100nit, a contrast ratio of 220:1/30:1 (transmission/reflection) and 50 percent color saturation.
