Samsung 2GB OneNAND flash memory

Ilse Jurriën : 2006-06-29 23:33:42
Samsung 2GB OneNAND flash memory : Samsung Electronics announced today that it has successfully developed a faster and higher capacity version of the world's fastest memory chip - OneNAND - while applying 60nm technology to the chip's production process for greater manufacturing efficiency. The new 2GB OneNAND chip doubles the capacity of a OneNAND memory device (from 1GB) and increases the chip's 'write' speed from 9.3MByte to 17MByte per second. "We're seeing a rapidly widening market for our OneNAND memory because of its outstanding performance and capacity that has become even more noteworthy with the application of 60 nm technology," said Don Barnetson, Director, Flash Marketing, Samsung Semiconductor.

Samsung develops 2GB Memory Card for Mobile Phones

Mark Peters : 2006-04-19 07:59:24
Samsung develops 2GB Memory Card for Mobile Phones : Samsung Electronics, the world leader in advanced memory technology, announced today that it has developed a 2 GigaByte MultiMediaCard (MMCmicro) that combines four 4Gbit NAND flash devices. This is the smallest, fastest and highest capacity flash memory card for mobile phones, developed only three months after Samsung led the industry by launching a 1GByte MMCmicro. "The Samsung 2GByte high-performance MMC flash Memory Card is a powerful indicator of Samsung’s expanding efforts to embrace the widest possible range of multimedia applications including mobile video," said Don Barnetson, Director, Flash Marketing, Samsung Semiconductor, Inc.

Samsung OneNAND flash memory production

Jennifer Pricet : 2006-04-10 08:01:00
Samsung OneNAND flash memory production : Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., announced today that it is now mass producing 70nm 1Gb OneNAND, a widely used memory device that provides higher performance over conventional flash devices. The higher-speed memory is targeted toward a wide range of applications beyond mobile handsets including memory cards for digital cameras and use in hybrid hard disk drives. By moving to 70nm designs, Samsung has achieved a 70% greater efficiency than the 90nm processing currently used throughout the industry. Samsung's 70nm OneNAND fuses together the rapid boot-up and data-read functions of NOR flash memory, plus the high-capacity data storage and fast writing capabilities of NAND flash memory.

Samsung OneNAND fusion memory card

Ilse Jurriën : 2006-04-10 07:35:00
Samsung OneNAND high performance fusion memory card : Samsung Electronics, leader in advanced semiconductor technology, announced at the third annual Samsung Mobile Solution Forum that its popular OneNAND high performance fusion memory will be offered for the first time in external memory cards. An alternative to standard NAND flash memory cards, the OneNAND-based memory cards available in 32MB through 256MB MultiMediaCards offer twice the performance of comparatively-sized conventional MMC cards and 10 times that of alternative memory cards. 1GB and 512MB densities will be available by the end of this year. By applying OneNAND to memory cards, Samsung offers the optimal solution for mobile phone and digital camera performance.

Samsung Flash SSD mobile memory card

Ilse Jurriën : 2006-04-10 07:34:00
Samsung Solid State Disk for Mobile PC's : Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., the leader in advanced semiconductor technology, announced at the Mobile Solution Forum that it has begun offering a 32-Gigabyte (GB) NAND flash-based solid state disk (SSD) - marking the first time that NAND flash has moved into mobile computing applications. The 32GB Flash-SSD, which serves the same purpose as a hard disk drive, is a sophisticated data storage medium for notebooks and other mobile computers. It uses instantly-accessible, non-moving NAND flash memory instead of the rotating discs found in hard drives; therefore can upload and download data quickly and quietly with minimal power consumption.

Samsung 4GB moviNAND memory card

Ralf Jurrien : 2006-03-31 08:08:00
Samsung 4GB moviNAND memory card : Samsung Electronics Co., today announced a new high-performance memory solution for data-intensive, multimedia handsets at the third annual Samsung Mobile Solution Forum today. The new solution, moviNAND, combines a MultiMediaCard v.4 (MMC) controller with up to 4GB of NAND to simplify system design requirements for embedded non-volatile storage. MMC is an open standard and universal interface specification that addresses market demands for higher performance in advanced portable consumer devices, including MP3/MP4 players, digital still cameras and small form-factor PCs, as well as mobile phones. moviNAND can transfer mobile video and other multimedia data at speeds of up to 52 MB per second.

Samsung develops fastest GigaByte Micro Memory Card

Mark Peters : 2006-02-09 03:37:21
Samsung develops fastest GigaByte Micro Memory Card : Samsung Electronics, the world leader in advanced memory technology, today announced that it has developed the fastest micro memory card with a gigabyte of density, for use in small cell phones, digital cameras and MP3 players. High demand for the high-speed 1 GB MMCmicroTM card is expected from cell phone manufacturers because of its compelling combination of features: speed, capacity, size and reduced power consumption The new Samsung 1 GB MMCmicro Memory Card, at 7.12 MBs per second, writes 3.5 times as fast as other micro cards being sold today. It can store 20 five-megapixel pictures in 11 seconds, while other cards take up to 30 seconds, or even longer, to do the same.
