Photokina summary

Mark Peters : 2006-10-05 03:20:00
Photokina summary : This year’s Photokina was the largest ever, and one of the most fascinating since Cologne’s first photo fair took place in 1950. The action-packed six-day event, which closed on October 1, bridged the gap between the "analogue click and the digital double-click" and was extremely well received by all the participants: professional and amateur photographers, the photographic and imaging sector, consumer electronics, IT, communications technology, suppliers of consumer products and professional imaging, the specialist trade, the media, photographic art and the imaging market. The level of supply and demand was comparable to the previous Photokina in 2004.

Photokina imaging trends

Ilse Jurriën : 2006-09-04 17:10:00
Photokina 2006 imaging trends : Digital reflex cameras attracting the greatest interest, camera phones taking over the role of an “optical notebook”, DVDs and hard disks as new storage media for camcorders, the next generation of memory cards is ready for launch and Internet enables the photography industry to utilize new forms of communication. At Photokina in 2006, the merging of the photography and video worlds with the consumer electronics, telecommunications, and information technology sectors will lead to a new level of quality, with the Photokina presenting imaging innovations in a more extensive and focused manner than that found at any other comparable trade fair. The Photokina 2006 promises to be the biggest show ever!

Photokina Mobile Imaging Conference

Mark Peters : 2006-09-04 16:10:00
Photokina Mobile Imaging Conference : As a result of ongoing developments in the imaging sector, more and more people from all social strata are now able to immediately record their impressions with digital images. Modern digital ultra-compact cameras have become popular among consumers, as have camera phones. As the number of people who constantly carry their mobile imaging devices with them grows, so too does the need for ways of sending and processing the resulting photographs quickly and under all manner of circumstances. The technologies now available include MMS messages via cell phone, printing on compact photo printers, creating photo albums on the Internet and printing at a photo kiosk in the shop around the corner.
