Omnivision video phone SGA image sensor

Nic Rossmüller : 2006-11-12 23:46:00
Omnivision video phone SGA image sensor : OmniVision, unveiled a new high-performance Square Graphics Array (SGA) 400 x 400 resolution camera chip sensor. The new Omnivision OV6680 is intended principally for use in secondary cameras in the fast growing 3G video phone market. “Our new SGA camera chip has outstanding low light sensitivity and is designed to meet the small form factor requirements of our handset customers by utilizing a 3.6 micron pixel with OmniPixel2 technology,” said Jess Lee, Vice President Mainstream Products at OmniVision. “The Omnivision OV6680’s excellent performance and image quality should make it very attractive both for secondary cameras in 3G phones and for entry-level camera phones.”

OmniVision automotive camera chip sensor

Nic Rossmüller : 2006-11-12 20:56:00
OmniVision automotive Camera chip sensor : OmniVision, announced the availability of its new all digital OmniVision OV7710 CameraChip advanced CMOS image sensor developed specifically for automotive applications. The OmniVision OV7710 is a highly integrated CMOS video camera that combines a high level of functionality with all digital output. Digital output is a key requirement for automotive machine-vision applications such as airbag deployment, lane departure warning, collision avoidance/pedestrian detection, windshield wiper control, and drowsiness detection. The OV7710 features a dual dynamic overlay function allowing for both a dynamic and a static visual aid layer (text or graphics) within the image.

OmniVision 1.3 Megapixel camera chip sensor

Mark Peters : 2006-10-05 21:31:00
OmniVision 1.3 Megapixel camera chip sensor : OmniVision Technologies, a leading independent supplier of CMOS CameraChip image sensors for high-volume applications, today launched its sixth generation OmniVision 1.3 megapixel CameraChip sensor. Featuring a 2-micron pixel and 1/5-inch optical format, the OV9660 enables a 25 percent thinner camera module, meeting the requirements of ultra slim handset designs. Additionally, the smaller module size is especially attractive to handset makers because it allows a drop-in upgrade from VGA to 1.3 megapixels, thereby extending the life of existing VGA camera phone designs. The OV9660 camera chip sensor comes in CSP and COB packages and is currently available for sampling.

Worlds smallest Camera Chip from OmniVision

Ilse Jurriën : 2006-06-21 01:04:00
Worlds smallest Camera Chip from OmniVision : OmniVision Technologies, a supplier of CMOS Camera Chip image sensor solutions for high-volume imaging applications, today introduced its smallest CameraChip product to date. The new, cost-efficient OV6920 is the only 1/18-inch sensor available, offering low power operation for use in disposable cameras for medical applications such as intubation and diagnostic systems. The 2.1 mm by 2.3 mm CSP packaged chip will enable a 3.2 mm diameter microscopic camera module, making many medical procedures even less invasive for the patient. It also allows certain medical devices such as intubation systems and endoscopes to be made even smaller to allow for use on infants and small children.

OmniVision expands automotive Camera Chip family

Mark Peters : 2006-04-30 13:30:00
OmniVision expands automotive Camera Chip family : OmniVision Technologies, a world leading supplier of CMOS image sensors, today launched its OV7949, the newest member of its automotive CameraChip family. The OmniVision OV7949 is a new high-performance, highly-integrated analog CMOS image sensor based on OmniVision’s proprietary OmniPixel architecture. The single-chip sensor’s excellent low-light sensitivity and significantly reduced blooming make it ideal for automotive applications. Reduced blooming capability is important for rearview cameras, which need to be able to ‘see’ even when faced with bright headlights of trailing vehicles. The OmniVision CameraChip OV7949 is currently available in sample quantities.

5 Megapixel CMOS Chip from OmniVision

Mark Peters : 2006-04-20 08:18:00
5 Megapixel CMOS Chip from OmniVision : OmniVision, a supplier of CMOS image sensors, unveiled its second-generation, 5 megapixel camera chip. The OmniVision OV5620 offers a small form-factor, 5 megapixel CMOS camera that surpasses CCD sensors in performance. Furthermore, the OmniVision OV5620’s advanced high-definition video modes with vivid colors make this CameraChip especially attractive for next generation digital still cameras (DSCs) and hybrid cameras, which take both still and video pictures. "After several years of exponential growth, the DSC market has slowed down significantly, and the pixel race seems to have found its sweet spot around 5 megapixels," said Brian O’Rourke, Senior Analyst at market research firm In-Stat.

OmniVision Three Megapixel Camera chip upgrade

Mark Peters : 2006-02-14 15:00:00
OmniVision Three Megapixel Camera chip upgrade : Today at the 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona, OmniVision Technologies a supplier of CMOS image sensors, introduced the OmniVision OV3630DZL stacked die CameraChip solution. With a module size of 9x9x7 mm, the OmniVision OV3630DZL allows handset customers to upgrade their camera phones from 2 megapixels (OV2630DZL) to 3 megapixels without mechanical design changes. This ‘drop-in’ replacement method will significantly reduce time-to-market, which is critical in today’s highly competitive mobile phone market. The OmniVision OV3630DZL stacked die module was developed in close cooperation with OmniVision’s module partners, and samples are currently available.

Chip with embedded Autofocus Control from OmniVision

Mark Peters : 2006-02-13 15:30:00
Chip with embedded Autofocus Control from OmniVision : OmniVision Technologies a world leading supplier of CMOS image sensors, today at the 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona unveiled the world’s first ¼-inch, 2 megapixel CameraChip with fully integrated autofocus (AF) control on a single chip. OmniVision is the first company to integrate AF functions on a 2 megapixel CMOS image sensor. Using its unique 2.2 micron OmniPixel2 architecture, OmniVision was able to develop this very small 2 megapixel sensor and integrate a full autofocus control on the same die. The OV2645’s advanced autofocus functions work with an integrated microcontroller that can directly control a variety of autofocus motors through its GPIO pads or serial bus.
