Nokia smartphones with Microsoft Live search : Nokia announced that it has reached an agreement with Microsoft to integrate Live Search capabilities into its Mobile Search platform, thus enabling consumers access to Live Search directly from their Nokia Nseries multimedia computers and other compatible Nokia S60 devices. Live Search will provide advanced web search results in 14 languages to enable on-the-go access to the information and content consumers want most. Microsoft will provide advanced search results for web search, as well as quick and easy access to information such as stock quotes, and common facts via Encarta Instant Answers. The Mobile Search experience from Nokia allows users to find search results more quickly.

Nokia launches community of music connoisseurs : Forty leading independent music stores from around the world are working with Nokia to create unique and customizable music recommendations. Music Recommenders brings together new music across continents, keeping music enthusiasts in touch with the latest tracks as well as discovering new artists. Internationally influential independent record stores including Fat Beats (New York), Reckless (Chicago), Pure Groove (London), Hard Wax (Berlin) and Mona Records (Tokyo) will offer a personalised selection of new music across 12 genres - from Pop to Rock to Classical, Jazz and Electronic. Every month, experts from each of the stores will bring together music from their specialist genre.

Mobile gaming collaboration : Nokia, the world leader in mobile communications, and Electronic Arts, the world's leading interactive entertainment software company, today announced a collaboration that will see EA become a major supplier of mobile games to millions of Nokia mobile device owners through Nokia Content Discoverer. This solution allows mobile customers easy access to downloadable content through a collection of shopping mall "stores" on their mobile device. Initially, customers will be able to download seven EA titles, Tetris, Tetris Mania, The Sims2, Doom, FIFA 06, Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 06 and FIFA Street 2 this holiday season. EA intends also to support the launch of the Nokia next generation mobile games.

Nokia live DVB-H mobile TV service : Global mobility leader Nokia and Vietnam Multimedia Corporation announced a jointly-inked deal to launch commercial mobile broadcast TV services based on Digital Video Broadcast-Handheld (DVB-H) technology in two key Vietnamese cities by end-2006. The agreement, Nokia's first commercial mobile TV service rollout in the Asia Pacific region, is also among the first of Nokia's commercial rollouts globally. Nokia is currently spearheading several trials in Asia Pacific, Europe and North America countries. VTC, Vietnam's leading national broadcaster and operator in digital broadcasting, will make available its mobile PayTV services to consumer subscribers in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City by end-2006.

Nokia Flagship Store Helsinki : Nokia unveiled today the new Nokia Flagship Store in Helsinki, Finland on Aleksanterinkatu street. The Nokia Flagship Store in Helsinki is Nokia's fourth Flagship Store and will open for the public on Saturday, August 19. Pioneering new techniques in mobile phone retail, altogether 18 Nokia Flagship Stores will be opened in high-profile retail locations in major shopping destinations of the world in the next couple of years. Nokia opened its first Flagship Store in Moscow in December 2005, followed by stores in Chicago and Hong Kong in the summer of 2006. After Helsinki, the next Nokia Flagship Store will be in New York."Helsinki, Finland is a natural location for a Nokia Flagship Store.

Nokia UMA Technology pilot in Finland : Nokia started its very first public Unlicensed Mobile Access pilot over Wireless LAN in the city of Oulu. This live trial will last at least two months and is being conducted under real life surroundings. Fifty families from the city of Oulu will be trying and testing the functionalities of this new technology with the help of a brand new Nokia 6136 mobile device. The Nokia 6136 was among the first Nokia mobile phones to offer UMA capabilities. This distinctive device integrates UMA technology to allow for seamless handover of voice and data connections between GSM cellular and WLAN networks. It combines the benefits of mobile and fixed landline through voice over WLAN.

Nokia HSDPA network launched in Belgium :Belgian mobile operator Proximus has launched the first commercial High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) network in the country. With the Nokia HSDPA solution, Proximus will be able to operate its network more cost-efficiently and offer its customers data services at speeds of up to five times faster than current 3G speeds. "We at Proximus take pride in offering our customers the best quality services, so we are pleased to be the first operator in Belgium to upgrade our 3G network with HSDPA technology," says Laurent Claus, Executive Vice President, Proximus. "Nokia's rapid rollout capability and support are extremely valuable for us in offering 3G broadband HSDPA to our customers."
