Nikon Imaging Software collaborates with Nik Software : Michio Kariya, President of Nikon Corporation, is pleased to announce collaboration in the field of imaging software for digital cameras with American software developer, Nik Software, Inc., formerly nik multimedia, Inc. with Headquarters in San Diego, California. With this collaboration, the technologies of both companies will be merged to develop and market innovative software products based on new concepts. This new relationship will enable a stronger presence and guarantee a leading role in the imaging software market. To further the success of this collaboration, Nikon has also made equity investment in Nik Software, Inc.

NikonNet honors Photographer David Alan Harvey : David Alan Harvey really knows how to tell a good story - through photography, that is. Not only can he compose a story through his pictures, but he also has the ability to photograph his subjects without them ever being affected by his presence. NikonNet will pay tribute to David Alan Harvey and his work in its inspiring monthly showcase, "Legends Behind the Lens. Harvey's photographs have brought us as close to the reality of situations as we are likely to get. With a graduate degree in journalism from the University of Missouri, he went to work for the Topeka Capitol Journal. He became a photographer for National Geographic and was named Magazine Photographer of the Year in 1978.

Nikon D2X digital SLR review : When Nikon introduced the D2H reflex camera for the enhanced action/photojournalist; the world expected the camera to be followed by a D2X very promptly. This was the case with the D1 series and the Internet rumours made us expect the new flagship any minute. But while Canon reacted quickly with a fast camera equipped with high resolution, the Nikon users had to be patient and wait a bit longer until Nikon finally put the Nikon D2X on the market. The camera features some highly interesting functions just like we are used to from Nikon. The Nikon D2X holds a higher resolution than the D2H, mainly meant for speedy photography.

Nikon discontinues most film cameras : Following the success of our digital line-up over the last seven years, which has resulted in more than 95% of Nikon’s UK business being within the digital area, Nikon has made the decision to focus management resources on digital cameras in place of film cameras. This decision will allow Nikon to continue to develop products that match the demands of an increasingly competitive market place. Despite this growing competition Nikon has continued to outperform the market, and has recently reported positive financial results which saw group net profit climb by 20% in the fiscal first half which ended in September. Group sales also increased by 9.8% to 342.85 billion yen in the same period.
