Olympus SP-510UZ Displaytech electronic viewfinder : Displaytech Inc. announced that Olympus Imaging Corporation has selected the company’s new generation LightView 201k-EV2-E3 (LV201k-E) microdisplay as the electronic viewfinder in the Olympus SP-510UZ digital still camera. The microdisplay features Displaytech’s ferroelectric liquid-crystal-on-silicon (FLCOS) technology, giving Olympus an EVF with unsurpassed image resolution. Samsung 7 inch WVGA LCD display : Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., the world's largest provider of thin-film transistor, liquid crystal display (TFT LCD) panels, begins producing seven-inch LCDs in September to take the lead in the WVGA display market for mobile devices. The seven-inch LCD is well suited for high-end multimedia products such as handsets for digital multimedia broadcasting (DMB), portable multimedia players (PMPs), portable DVD players, and portable navigation systems. Samsung plans to expand the seven-inch LCD production capacity to 10 million units by 2007. The company unveiled its seven-inch display at the International Meeting on Information Displays, held in Daegu, Korea last month.

Sagem Chooses eMagin OLED : Sagem Defense Securite has entered into a multi-year contract with eMagin Corporation, a leader in OLED microdisplay technology, to provide the microdisplays for its Felin program. Felin is the French Army's integrated soldier system. eMagin has already begun production to support this program, which will require more than 37,000 microdisplays through the life of the contract. The program schedule calls for Sagem to integrate the microdisplays over the next 72 months into the lightweight, ergonomic soldier systems for the active French Army regiments. Felin systems will comprise, in part, integral sensors, wearable computer, communications, and display systems based on eMagin's SVGA+ OLED microdisplay.

Samsung LCD TV panel : Samsung Electronics, the world’s largest provider of thin-film transistor, liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) panels, has developed the first 70-inch LCD panel for use in the consumer TV market. Currently, the largest LCD TV screen size is 65 inches in diameter. The company will unveil its 70-inch LCD HDTV at the International Meeting on Information Displays (IMID) 2006, which will open in Daegu, Korea. Vice President Kim Sang-Soo of Samsung said, “Our new 70-inch LCD is not only significantly larger, but also sets a new benchmark of excellence in terms of video image reproduction, viewing angle and image quality. We’ve designed it to dramatically enhance the large screen LCD TV user’s viewing experience. ”
